Attractions
Chatsworth house, garden, farmyard & adventure playground, gift shops and restaurants are open every day until 23 December 2010. 2010 is a landmark year for Chatsworth, home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, with more of the house open to visitors than ever before. The 1000 acre park, the farm shop and its restaurant are open all year round.
After years of painstaking work and restoration, funded by the Chatsworth House Trust, we have opened a new visitor route through the house, including newly restored galleries, displays of rare treasures, a restored stone courtyard at the heart of the house and elegant new displays celebrating the legendary Duchess Georgiana. In addition we have a free exhibition with house entry, celebrating the 90th birthday of Deborah Devonshire, the present Dowager Duchess, whose life has been a miniature history of the 20th century.
Chatsworth's tradition of welcoming every visitor warmly continues in 2010, with more free daily talks in the house, garden and farmyard. Visitors are encouraged to quiz our friendly team to discover more about the intriguing people and events that have shaped Chatsworth's history over five centuries.
In the garden there are new sculpture commissions and ever more varied seasonal colours and plantings to discover.
Younger visitors and families particularly enjoy the farmyard with its wide variety of animals and their young, and the spectacular woodland adventure playground. From daily animal handling sessions, to fabulous water play and spiral slides, there is something for everyone.
