Beyond the human body

One of the foremost painters of her generation, Jenny Saville has exhibited her work across the world to great critical acclaim. While her painterly style has been compared with that of Rubens and Lucian Freud, over her 25 year career, Jenny has taken the depiction of the human form in unprecedented directions.  In a fascinating exhibition at the Kunsthaus, Zurich, last year her paintings and drawings were juxtaposed with works by Egon Schiele.

Jenny discusses her work with Dr. Nicholas Cullinan, the Director of the National Portrait Gallery; how, over the last three decades, it has reflected her interest in Old Master paintings and, more recently, her renewed engagement with drawing.

Erota, a group of recent drawings by Jenny Saville, at Gagosian Gallery, Davies Street, London W1 until 9 July 2016.

Early booking is recommended as a number of tickets for this talk are reserved for school pupils studying art and history of art.
