The Nutcracker at Chatsworth

Explore the magic of Chatsworth at Christmas between 5th November and 31st December 2016.

This year's theme will be 'The Nutcracker' and it is sure to be enchanting.  Use our teachers' resource pack to self-guide your group around our fantastic display and then take part in a range of activities at our outdoor education centre, the Stickyard, looking at the Mouse King's side of the story.

Please note we are unable to undertake any guided tours during this time and that sessions have limited availability.

House tour

Key stage 1 - 5 and Higher Education
Allow 1.5 hours

Experience this amazing 300 year old family home as our friendly guides take you on a journey full of stories about the people and the objects that have shaped its history.

Your group will learn about key elements of the house, and compare and contrast what you see to our own modern lives.

From ancient artefacts to modern art, our experienced guides will bring objects to life through information and stories. The tour will be adapted to suit children from each key stage and will focus in particular on changes made to the house by the 1st, 6th and the current (12th) Duke.
