New for 2010
2010 is a very special year for Chatsworth. After 2 years of intensive work, we are delighted to be opening a new visitor route round the house, with far fewer stairs, and full disabled access to all floors for the first time. See some highlights of our 2010 calendar below.
14 March to 31 October - Exclusive exhibition for 2010
Come and help celebrate the 90th birthday of the Dowager Duchess, Deborah Devonshire, the last surviving Mitford sister, as we mark the nine eventful decades of her life with a special exhibition in the house.
1 to 6 May
Florabundance - Tulip festival
See the house and garden transformed with our tulip and spring flower festival, in partnership with De Jager.
2, 4 & 6 May
Floral demonstrations
Demonstrations in the Victorian Theatre, during our Tulip Florabundance festival.
6 November to 23 December
A Russian Christmas
See the lower floor of the house opulently dressed for Christmas. This year some of the decorations will take their inspiration from Russia's art and history.
3 & 12 November
Christmas Floral Demonstrations
"Crafted for Christmas". Get ideas and techniques for designing floral displays to decorate your own homes over the festive period.
6 November
Christmas Floral Workshops
"Hand Crafted For Christmas". Join us for a day of practical floral design and make a wonderful Christmas wreath and festive table centrepiece.
12-14 & 19-21 November
Christmas Markets
Our Christmas markets run over two weekends, complementing our own range of superb gift and food shops. Pre-booked groups of 15 or more who visit our markets on the Friday will also benefit from discounted group rates into the house and garden.
25 & 26 November & 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17 December
Christmas evenings in the house with optional dinner in the Cavendish rooms
Visit the beautifully house decorated for Christmas at twilight, enjoy a glass of wine and mince pie and special seasonal entertainment, and have leisurely time to purchase beautiful seasonal gifts in our gift shop at the end of the evening. You also have the option of completing your evening with dinner in the Cavendish rooms
27 November & 4, 11 and 18 December
Exclusive Christmas gourmet evenings with champagne reception in the house
These exclusive evenings start with a champagne reception in the Painted Hall, followed by a guided tour of the house decorated for Christmas. A glass of mulled wine will then be served in the Cavendish rooms, followed by a fabulous four course dinner in the Burlington room with wine to suit each course.
