Chatsworth Farm Shop Buyer

(Full time, Permanent - however interim, part time hours would be considered).

A new and exciting position is available to work with our award winning farm shop at Chatsworth for an experienced buyer with a knowledge and passion for food.

This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved with local suppliers, building up relationships and together developing high quality and unique artisan products worthy of sale in our farm shop. 

You will take ownership of developing the food range in the farm shop, sourcing the best local food and drink products - having a real talent for spotting great tasting products that our customers will enjoy.

Of course, there will be less exciting areas within your control such as an absolute need to be able to understand and explain the numbers to others, provide a commercially profitable range and provide board level reports.

You must be highly numerate, organized and disciplined, skillful at negotiating and knowledgeable about design, packaging and food legislation.

You should be educated at degree level and have extensive experience of working as a buyer in the food industry.

Security Officer

An interesting Security Officer post has arisen working as and when required, day and evening shifts covering for holidays, absence and other events; the shifts will mostly be 12 hours but occasionally shorter shifts may be required.

The successful applicant will provide an efficient service and warm welcome to a wide range of people including VIP's, visitors, staff and the emergency services.

Flexibility will be a key element of the role and all applicants must possess excellent communication skills, able to deliver great customer care without compromising security.

You should be able to work in a calm and competent manner both alone and as part of a team; have previous experience of working with computers; maintaining vigilant observations; monitor and respond quickly and appropriately to intruder alarm, fire alarm and local monitoring systems and CCTV.

You should also be able to carry out efficient security patrols, both internal, external and mobile; operate control room equipment and maintain routine security records. 

Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous.  Applicants must be prepared to undergo a DBS check and hold a driving licence.

Assistant Supervisor
Sandwich Production

As part of an exciting new project aimed at developing a range of high quality sandwiches prepared by hand at Chatsworth we seek a full time Assistant Supervisor.

Reporting to and deputising for the supervisor, you will work in a small team producing sandwiches, wraps and boxed salads for visitors to the Estate. 

Your normal hours will be 8 hours per day, working Thursday to Monday normally early starts of 3/4am. However, due to the nature of the post, demand will fluctuate dependent on the season and you should be prepared to be flexible in working times. This position is seasonal working mid-March to December.

It is essential that the quality of our products is consistently good therefore you must be able to control standards whilst achieving high levels of productivity. Previous experience of working in a high volume food production unit is essential.

You should have previous experience of team leading in a related role and have a basic understanding of IT. It is essential to have an awareness of food hygiene and health and safety.

The Devonshire Arms, Beeley

Located on the Chatsworth Estate, The Devonshire Arms at Beeley is the recipient of many awards including 'Good Food Guide Country Pub of the Year', 'Derbyshire Pub of the Year' and 'Yorkshire Pub of the Year' together with achieving a 2AA Rosette status. The Devonshire Arms is a traditional English country pub with a contemporary twist, oak beams, open fires and nooks and crannies and fourteen stylish cottage bedrooms. It is also the perfect spot to relax whist being served cask ales and quality food and wines in the vibrant Brasserie.

Devonshire Arms Beeley - Front of House Assistant Manager

As Assistant Manager, you will assist in the smooth running of all Front of House areas ensuring standards of service are delivered consistently and are continually improving.  You should have previous experience within other gastro pubs, a great knowledge of British food, real ale and wine, in addition to experience of POS systems and good customer relation skills . It is essential that you have previously held a senior position within a similar environment and have experience working with a large number of covers.  You will be educated to GCSE or equivalent standard with excellent English language skills both oral and written.
• Salary Up to £18,000 per annum,  plus benefits

Devonshire Arms Beeley - Front of House Supervisor

As a Front of House Supervisor, you will assist in the smooth running of all Front of House areas ensuring standards of service are delivered consistently and are continually improving.  You should have previous restaurant experience with a knowledge of food and wine service.  Previous supervisory experience is desirable but not essential as it is more important that you are an enthusiastic and motivated member of the team.

• Salary up to £15,000 per annum, plus benefits

Devonshire Arms Beeley - Casual Restaurant Serving Staff

Multi skilled and working across all areas of Food and Beverage services, Restaurant Serving Staff are able to work on their own initiative and as part of a busy team.  Interacting with guests is the most important part of your role which involves setting and clearing tables, service preparation, hosting, order taking, food & drink service and general cleaning duties which includes polishing cutlery & crockery.  Most of all, you are well presented and extremely focused on delivering a quality service and product with a smile.  Working hours to suit you and the business, you will have an outgoing character, positive attitude and friendly manner.

• Salary up to £6.50 per hour, plus benefits
