Sewing Schools at Chatsworth 2008

Our sewing schools are friendly, informal and fun. We offer full day workshops, and half-day demo's. Tutored by seamstresses trained here at Chatsworth, they are held in the beautiful 19th century theatre in the house. Our main aim is to help you see what can be achieved with a little help and to give you the confidence to go on and use your newfound skills at home.

The full day workshops offer a combination of demonstrations and tuition, with the emphasis on hands-on practical work. All materials and equipment required for the day will be provided; all you need to know is how to use an electric sewing machine. The price includes free parking, refreshments, a two course meal (or soup and a sweet) with coffee and a signed certificate on completion of the day's workshop. You take home the samples you have made, along with comprehensive notes.

The half day demonstrations offer a detailed demonstration in creating your chosen subject, with comprehensive notes to take home; they do not involve hands-on work for you, and last approximately three hours including refreshment.

If you have a group of 4 to 6 people, we can offer a class on a subject of your choice, on any date that is mutually convenient. Please telephone 01246 565345.

Please note that there are a great many stairs up to the theatre, with no lift access available.
