Chatsworth exhibits young artists

An exciting new, free exhibition has been unveiled in the conservatory of Chatsworth's Carriage House Restaurant - the first in an ongoing series of changing displays showcasing the work of promising young, local artists.

The paintings are the work of a group of A level art students from Wilsthorpe Business & Enterprise College, known throughout Derbyshire for the quality of its artwork. In July 2006, the students spent a week at Chatsworth working on a project called 'Inspired by Others'. They recorded their impressions of the house, landscape and art collection through drawing, painting and sculpture, and the monumental sculpture of the 2006 'Beyond Limits' exhibition was a repeated source of inspiration.

Many of these students are now continuing their study of art, architecture or design at university, and 'Beyond Limits' 2007 is inspiring a new wave of young artists producing remarkable work. Keep an eye on the Carriage House Restaurant conservatory as the displays change to reflect this wealth of talent.

We are very grateful to the artists from Wilsthorpe Business and Enterprise College from Long Eaton for loaning their work, and in particular to Jane Hodges and Jo Beattie, the project co-ordinators.
