A magical Mothers Day at Chatsworth

A magical mothers day at Chatsworth

Finding the best way to show your mum just how much you appreciate her is not always easy. A visit to Chatsworth this March 22 is the perfect solution. The whole family will enjoy exploring the gardens bursting into life with colourful floral displays and the farmyard decorated with flowers to welcome in spring at the Palace of the Peak. Chatsworth has been home to many interesting mothers throughout history, including the fascinating Georgiana, played by Kiera Knightley in ‘The Duchess’ film and celebrated in a new exhibition in the House.

To make for an extra special Mother’s Day, Chatsworth is offering a fresh flower for every mum entering the garden, free coffee or tea and the chance to relax with magazines at the farmyard, as well as a complimentary glass of bubbly and a box of chocolates for mum with every Afternoon Tea in the Cavendish Rooms booked in advance. To pre-book this special Mother’s Day treat call 01246 565315 or 01246 565363.

Garden

Every mum will be given a spring flower as they stroll through the beautiful 105 acre garden and discover the magical landscape and breathtaking views across the estate. There are five miles of walks to choose from with rare trees, shrubs, hedges, temples, sculptures old and new, streams and ponds.

With so much to see in the garden from the glorious daffodils, famous waterworks, the rose, cottage, kitchen and sensory gardens, a visit to Flora’s Temple and the sculpture of the classical Goddess of flowers, is a must. The temple will be decorated to mark the occasion with an impressive floral display.

Farmyard

Head to the farmyard for some rest and recuperation.  Mums will receive a free coffee or tea as they relax and unwind in the Oak Barn over complimentary magazines and chocolates while children are kept busy in craft sessions.  Craft sessions take place in the picnic room where little ones can create a special card for mum.

Children and families will particularly enjoy the farmyard with its wide variety of animals ranging from cows, pigs, goats, sheep, horses, chickens and fish, and there are usually young animals to see as well. With animal handling sessions taking place daily, the café, the shop and the spectacular woodland adventure playground, there is something for everyone.

The Stables

Located in the picturesque 18th century stable block, and recently decorated by the Duchess of Devonshire, The Cavendish rooms offer a relaxing and quintessentially English dining experience. All the scones and cakes are freshly baked at Chatsworth every day and with full waitress service and a menu designed around the art of Afternoon tea, this is a real treat for those who want a bit of luxury. Mums will receive a complimentary glass of champagne and a box of delicious chocolates when visitors book in advance. To pre-book this special Mother’s Day treat call 01246 565315 or 01246 565363.

If you fancy something more traditional, a delicious Sunday Roast will be served in the Carriage House Restaurant.  Also located in the stable block, and winner of the Best Restaurant within a visitor attraction at the Derbyshire Food and Drink 2007 awards, the Carriage House restaurant offers freshly made local and seasonal food, prepared by Chatsworth's team of chefs and bakers.
