A unique olympic inspired project

An Olympic inspired tourism campaign has been unveiled today in the East Midlands depicting its elite athletes performing at some of the region's star attractions.

A Beijing silver medallist slalom racer paddles down the famous cascade at Chatsworth, Derbyshire's Palace of the Peak; a gymnast swaps her beam for a canal lock at Leicestershire's Foxton Locks; basketball players leap around below the Dean's Eye window at the gothic Lincoln Cathedral; two fencers spar against the dramatic backdrop of Stanage Edge in the Peak District and an athlete clears hurdlers in the Long Gallery at historic Rockingham Castle in Northamptonshire amongst others.

The images capture current and aspiring Olympians, many of whom live as well as train in the region, at some of the region's leading tourism attractions. They showcase the East Midlands as a region of sporting excellence and a great place to visit in the run up to the 2012 Games and beyond.
