Filming & photography
The 35,000 acre Chatsworth Estate offers numerous superb location possibilities, and we welcome inquiries and requests of all kinds. Possible locations include Chatsworth house itself (exterior and interiors), the large garden, with its famous water features, maze and rockeries, unique historic buildings and a small private theatre, entire villages, isolated houses and barns, parkland and forests, farms, lakes and rivers, moorland, quarries, schools, pubs, shops, hotels and industrial works.
These locations are spread across the estate in and around Derbyshire's Peak District, in the heart of the UK, with good transport links by road, rail and air. We have excellent facilities for productions of all sizes including extensive parking, in-house catering, a team who understand what film companies require, and qualified tradesman on site. The estate offers a wide range of accommodation, from fine hotels to self catering accommodation.
The Estate has hosted a variety of filming over the last few years, ranging from factual documentaries such as Channel 4's Great Estates and TV dramas such as Jane Eyre (BBC), to feature films, most notably Pride and Prejudice (2005), The Duchess (2008) and The Wolfman (2009).
Emma Pill, location manager for WOLFMAN, was on-site at Chatsworth in the spring of 2008. She writes: "Our time on preparation and filming at Chatsworth was fantastic. The Wolfman was a large feature film to accommodate, and Chatsworth took on the production with an open mind. The team at Chatsworth were nothing but excellent and professional, dealing with our ever changing schedule and plans, and I would certainly like to go back to film there again. The house and grounds are truly a wonderful film location."
Below are some of the features of the estate to illustrate location opportunities.
