Inside the house - personal perspectives
A behind the scenes tour, including the beautiful 19th century Theatre. See the house through the eyes of a member of the Chatsworth house team. This is an opportunity to explore those sections of the house that are not publicly on show - the working parts that are integral to the maintenance and preservation of the house. The tour includes the cellars, the joiner's shop (formerly the Victorian kitchen) and the roof of the house (weather permitting), and will also include the recently cleared and re-used 19th century theatre.

Including two lecture talks from long standing staff members
John Oliver, retiring Comptroller, will talk about Chatsworth and its people in the decades he has known it, and the many extraordinary changes that have taken place in the 45 years he has worked on the estate. Christine Robinson, Head housekeeper, will talk about her immensely varied role in looking after the rooms on view to visitors and much else besides. Both talks give a vivid insight into life behind the scenes at Chatsworth in the middle of its fifth century.
