Will ten Lords be leaping at Chatsworth this Christmas

On the first day of 'Christmas at Chatsworth', 4 November, visitors will be able to walk through the Twelve Days of Christmas, in twelve specially decorated rooms of the house, which tell the story of the well-loved song. Amid spectacular decorations and candlelight, music and real trees, visitors can enjoy our evocation of everything from a Partridge in a Pear tree to the 10 lords a-leaping. There will even be three real French hens on view. It will be a Christmas experience unlike anything Chatsworth has offered before, running every day from 4 November until 23 December.

The farm yard is also offering more family activity and entertainment than ever before, and the shops and restaurants offer a huge range of Christmas food, drink and shopping.

The Duke and Duchess of Devonshire said:
"The Chatsworth team have worked incredibly hard to produce twelve fantastic new displays inspired by the Twelve Days of Christmas. We are so looking forward to sharing our home with visitors at this special time leading up to Christmas. With the farmyard offering ever more family activities, and our shops and restaurant offering the best seasonal food and gifts, we hope a visit here will give everyone a very happy Christmas."

Notes for editors:
The house, garden, farmyard, playground, shops and restaurant are dressed for Christmas every day from 4 November to 23 December.

On Saturday 4 November, Chatsworth will host two drumming workshops for visitors (tickets first come, first served) in the theatre, to mark the start of our '12 Days of Christmas' season.

The price of admission to the House is reduced after 4pm, for our 'Twilight Hour' (last entry 5pm, closes 6pm).

Press are welcome to have an exclusive preview of our preparations over the next nine days.
