To make the most of your visit to the house, garden or farmyard, plan your day around our great selection of daily talks, tours and transport for all ages, many of which are free with admission. 

Please note that all events within or beginning in the house, garden or farmyard require visitors to have paid admission. All activities are subject to cancellation due to weather or circumstances beyond our control.

In the house

Introductory talk


10.35am, 11.05am, 12.05pm, 1.05pm and 2.05pm

An introductory talk on the house commencing by the weeping ash tree outside the house entrance. 15 minutes.

Taster tour of the house

£4 adult, £2 child or £5 including the Victorian Theatre

11am, 11.30am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm

An introduction to the house, the history and its collection commencing at the house entrance. Afterwards you can re-enter the house to see things at your own pace. 1.25 hours (1.5 including theatre). Taster tours have limited availability and are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

A buggy service between the house, stables and farmyard.

Garden tour


11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm

A walk around the grounds to learn about interesting and hidden aspects of the garden. 1 hour.

Garden buggy tours

£4 pp

Every hour from 11.30am - 3.30pm

A buggy ride around the depths of the garden to see key features such as the Ring pond, the Rock garden and the Cascade and learn about the fascinating history of the garden and wider landscape. 40 minutes.

Garden buggy tours are very popular and waiting times may vary. They also have limited availability and are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Trailer discovery tours

£2.50 pp from the farmyard

Details on boards in the farmyard.

Trailer rides with commentary suitable for all ages, from the farmyard to the golden gates. This is a great introduction to the estate and its landscape. Trailer discovery tours have limited availability and are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Meet the animals at our daily talk where one of our friendly experts will explain how we care for them.

Animal handling


11.30am, 2pm and 4pm

You can handle all sorts of cuddly farm creatures here, three times a day. There's no better way to get up close and personal with our guinea pigs, lambs and goat kids (in season).

3.30pm mid April - October

You can see our cows being milked almost every day until the end of October. Fun and educational - it's a great way for little ones to learn about where their favourite drink comes from!
