What Chatsworth offers your group

  • A day spent on one of the Country's most beautiful country estates, enjoying the variety, history and hospitality for which Chatsworth is famous. Groups are welcome to arrive at any time during the day. We recommend that you allow at least four hours to see all that Chatsworth has to offer.

  • Derbyshire's Palace of the Peak, one of the country's finest treasure houses, where you are free to walk at your own pace around the magnificent rooms, which contain a fascinating and varied collection of art, furnishings and curiosities from around the world, and include the Sculpture Gallery, seen in the recent film of Pride and Prejudice.

  • This year, we have revitalised the selection of special tours which we offer groups, with a more flexible range of options than ever before. Our new introductory tour of the house or garden is a great insight to Chatsworth, its vivid characters and its collection.

  • In 2008, we offer new displays of rare treasures in the house, including Henry VIII's rosary to celebrate the 400 th anniversary of the death of 'Bess of Hardwick', one of the great characters of Elizabethan England. We are also hosting our very first Tudor themed event, in May, where you can meet and watch skilled experts showcasing Tudor skills and materials in the garden. There are also themed group itineraries available in 2008, relating to Bess celebrations at historic sites across Derbyshire.

  • Why not try one of our new exclusive Behind the Scenes tours? A member of the Chatsworth house team will take you and your group to parts of the house not normally on public view including the cellars, the joiners shop (formerly the Old Victorian Kitchen), the roof (weather permitting) and learn about the current masterplan, which is transforming the services and fabric of the house.

  • From 1 November, the timeless Christmas story is beautifully told with magical life size silhouette scenes by Jan Pienkowski. This distinguished artist has long been famous for the skill and delicacy with which he brings stories to life, in pop- up books and silhouette illustrations. Beautiful traditional decorations on the lower floors of the house (the State Rooms are not part of our Christmas season), a wide selection of food and drink, the best shopping and a second year of collaboration with 'Galvanize' the Sheffield metalwork festival will all combine to make a rich Christmas experience for your group.
