Sotheby's Beyond Limits returns again for the annual sculpture exhibition in the garden.

For the first time, Beyond Limits will feature the work of a single artist, the British sculptor Barry Flanagan, RA OBE (1941-2009).

Try our new Victorian tour of the House for KS1 and 2, or visit the farmyard to meet our farm animals and their young.  Try out new adventure play equipment in the adventure playground or borrow an activity pack to make the most of a walk in the beautiful woodland.  Look out for specialist projects and workshops throughout the year. Our bookings team will help you to organise a fantastic day out for your group.

Autumn visits to Chatsworth

Autumn is a fantastic time to visit Chatsworth. A good time to visit the farmyard, why not combine a visit to the animals with some time in the adventure playground or take a walk in our stunning woodland. The autumn colours are a feast on the senses and inspire artistic creativity of colour and shape. The Gardens are looking stunning providing a colourful backdrop to the Sotheby's sculptures.

Sotheby's sculptures are in the garden.

Works by more than 20 leading artists from around the world, including René Magritte, Nadim Karam, Takashi Murakami, William Turnbull, Marc Quinn, Ju Ming, Jaume Plensa and Barry Flanagan, will be on display with many showing in the UK for the first time.

Sotheby's sculptures return in September...

The dates of Sotheby's Beyond Limits exhibition of modern and contemporary sculpture have now been confirmed. The giant sculpture show will return to the garden on 16 September - 31 October 2011.

Family ceramics...

The new display in the China Closet is a fascinating contrast between the collections of the present Duke and his son Lord Burlington, and their ancestor the Countess of Burlington. See 300 year-old Meissen ware and new pieces by Ai Weiwei and Edmund de Waal side by side.

New art in the garden...

Laura Ellen Bacon has finished a new willow sculpture in the garden, Forms of Growth. You can find it at the entrance to the Kitchen Garden. Another of her creations, Woven Space, is hidden inside a yew tree near the garden entrance.

Eleven generations in one room...

Portraits of every Duke from the 1st to the 11th, with family and friends, are on show together on the Oak Stairs. This spectacular floor-to-ceiling hang covers two floors and unites work by artists including Joshua Reynolds, John Everett Millais (portrait of the 8th Duke, left) and Lucian Freud.

See a past and future Duchess face to face...

Michael Craig-Martin's computer portrait of Lady Laura Burlington constantly changes, and will never look the same twice during a lifetime. It hangs beside JohnSinger-Sargent's portrait of Duchess Evelyn, which was painted 108 years earlier, in the new North Sketch Gallery.
