Welcome
2010 is a very special year for Chatsworth, for a start, there is more of the house to see than ever before, with the new, more accessible route for visitors, including both new and restored spaces and views and a really spectacular range of new displays of rarely seen treasures.
In addition, we have a special exhibition, free with house entry, running until 31 October, which celebrates the 90th birthday of my mother, Deborah Devonshire, whose life has been a miniature history of the 20th century.
In the garden there are new sculpture commissions and ever more varied seasonal colours and plantings to discover. And our calendar of events, be they big or small, new or much loved favourites, continues to grow, as you will see in the pages that follow.
Every year, our skilled staff and valued guests put on a truly varied programme, spanning everything from farmyard and garden discovery days for children, to gourmet extravaganzas in the restaurant, that gives you the opportunity to get much more from your visit. Our hope is that by trying your hand at something new, improving on an existing hobby or skill, or just enjoying the chance to learn something from an enthusiastic expert, you will be entertained and have fun, which is what makes any day out worthwhile.
Whether you come on your own, with friends, or bring children, there is something for everyone to enjoy. We look forward to welcoming you.
