Chatsworth park

Behind the scenes tour
See the house through the eyes of a member of the Chatsworth house team. This is an opportunity to explore parts of the house that are not publicly on show - working areas that are integral to the maintenance and preservation of the house. Where possible, the tour includes the joiner's shop (formerly the great Victorian kitchen) and the roof of the house (weather permitting).

Tour of the (private) Old Park
The Domain Department looks after the magnificent 1000 acre park that surrounds Chatsworth and they have a uniquely intimate knowledge of the landscape. Join a member of this department for a guided walk into the private old park, discovering its rich wildlife and ancient oaks, some of which have survived from the legendary Sherwood Forest.

Duchess Georgiana lecture
Born into the Spencer family, Georgiana married the 5th Duke of Devonshire. Famously charming, she bewitched and scandalised Georgian society, while at the same time being a compulsive gambler, influential leader of fashion and playing a significant role in the politics of her day. A new gallery, open from 2010, is devoted to her taste, style and influence and this lecture tells her fascinating story.
