Private Head Housekeeper
The Duke & Duchess of Devonshire’s Private Household 

An experienced private housekeeper is sought to lead the small housekeeping team at Chatsworth, the Derbyshire home of the Duke & Duchess of Devonshire.

You will report to the Head Butler but work closely with the Duchess; providing a discreet and professional personal service; ensuring her wardrobe and personal effects are maintained in an excellent condition.

You will also manage the housekeeping to the Duchess’ directions, working alongside the team, ensuring first hand, that high standards are maintained. 

Working with the Head Butler, you will also ensure that a warm welcoming environment is maintained for the family and their many guests, training staff accordingly.

Experience in a private household is essential including wardrobe management, caring for couture clothing, handling antiques, precious objects and general household management.  IT skills are also necessary for e mail and Excel.  A driving license is also required due to our location. 

Ideally you will have previously supervised household staff.

This is a busy household, often entertaining on both a formal and informal basis requiring a calm, efficient and adaptable personality.  Complete confidentiality and attention to detail is a prerequisite, as is a sense of humour. 

The role is 5 days per week, including split shifts and weekends, averaging 40 to 45 hours per week.   Flexibility in hours of work will be required.  An excellent package is available, including independent accommodation in a local estate cottage.

Temporary Personal Carer and Household Assistant

This is a unique opportunity for a cheerful energetic Personal Carer and Household Assistant to provide high quality care for an independent Elderly lady on the Chatsworth Estate. 

With an immediate start, the position is temporary for a period of 3 months from August to October 2016 working a minimum of 30 hours per week on a rota basis. You will work in a team supplying seven day care which will include some evenings and weekends and as such, flexibility is essential. There is potential for the position to be made permanent for the right candidate.

You will assist with personal care during different times of the day and evening and with food preparation at meal times. The role will also involve providing support for social appointments, shopping and light domestic duties in the household. A valid clean UK driving licence is required.

This is a rewarding and varied role, which is ideal for a caring, patient, kind and active individual with a good sense of humour. 

Previous experience and training of providing personal care is not essential but is preferred. Given the nature of the role, sensitivity and confidentiality is an absolute priority. This position is open to female applicants only.

Assistant Supervisor (Delicatessen)
Estate Farm Shop 

A new permanent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Supervisor to join the Estate Farm Shop Delicatessen working 40 hours per week between the hours of 8.00am and 6.30pm from Monday to Friday, including one weekend in four. 

Excellent customer service and team leadership skills are a priority for this role as you will assist the supervisor in ensuring the smooth daily operation of the delicatessen counter and shop and maintaining high standards at all times. Other duties will include; training and supervision of staff, monitoring and ordering stock, assisting customers, dealing with suppliers, taking orders and serving promptly and efficiently.  

You will also take a leading role of health and safety and hygiene practices, ensuring all areas are clean, tidy and free from hazards. 

Previous relevant experience would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be provided. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate first class customer service, an ability to work well under pressure and the ability to supervise a successful team.

Saturday Warehouse Assistant
Chatsworth Warehouses

A permanent position is available working 8 hours per week on a Saturday from 6.00am to 2.30pm. 

Duties of the role include: dealing with delivery notes, checking in and monitoring of stock and the transfer of stock to and from the farm shop on a daily basis.   The role also includes manually moving and storing large and quite heavy containers. 

You must be numerate and organized; a good team member with excellent customer service skills and an understanding of the importance of your role in representing Chatsworth to outside suppliers and businesses.   

You should also be prepared to be flexible, working to meet the needs of the business, particularly at busy times of the year.

Previous experience in a warehouse environment is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.  Due to the location and the early start time, public transport is not available so you must have your own transport to and from work.

Part time Customer Service Assistants
Catering department

New part time opportunities have become available in the self-service Carriage House Restaurant and the Cavendish Rooms Restaurant, both of which are based within the Stables at Chatsworth.    

Duties of the role include; greeting and serving customers, working on the till, serving hot food and drinks, clearing tables and keeping the restaurant clean and tidy. In the Cavendish Rooms, duties will also include providing a full table service.
 
Previous experience in a restaurant environment is not essential as full training will be provided. However, you must be friendly, happy to work in a team and keen to provide our customers with excellent levels of customer service.
