Part-Time Personal Carer and Household Assistants
(2 posts to cover days and/or nights)

Opportunities have arisen requiring an immediate start for cheerful, energetic personal carers and household assistants for an independent elderly lady on the Chatsworth Estate.  

You will work a minimum of 30 hours per week, on a rota basis, in a small team supplying seven day care. Your hours will include some evenings, weekends and night cover; as such, flexibility is essential.

You will assist with personal care during different times of the day and evening and with food preparation at meal times. The role will also involve providing support for social appointments, shopping and light domestic duties in the household. A valid UK driving licence is required.

This is a rewarding and varied role, which is ideal for a caring, patient, kind and active individual with a good sense of humour. 

Previous experience and training of providing personal care is not essential but is preferred. Given the nature of the role, sensitivity and confidentiality is an absolute priority. This position is open to female applicants only.  An excellent rate of pay is offered.

Chef de Partie

 A full-time, permanent opportunity has arisen within our friendly catering team at Chatsworth. 

As part of the team you will work with the senior chefs to help with the development and training of junior members of the kitchen staff. You will also assist with the creation of new dishes and menus, using seasonal, fresh produce from local suppliers wherever possible.

You should be able to demonstrate a genuine desire to deliver food of the highest quality in all sections of the business. You will have experienced time spent as section leader and will also be keen to assist in maintaining our exemplary health & safety and hygiene practices. 

This is a full time position working 40 hours per week, five days out of seven on a rota basis. Flexibility will be essential to meet the needs of the business; however, the majority of the work will be 9.00am-5.30pm.

Commis Chef

Catering Supervisor
Flying Childers Restaurant 

A permanent opportunity is available for a customer focused individual to supervisor the equestrian themed restaurant which offers a Wedgwood afternoon tea at Chatsworth.

You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the restaurant, supervising a small team and guaranteeing customer satisfaction.   Taking a ‘hands on’ approach, you will lead by example; greeting customers, providing full table service, working on the tills and ensuring excellent communication with the kitchen. You will also be required to supervise other areas of the catering department.

Previous experience in a catering environment and supervisory experience would be an advantage but is not essential if you are able to demonstrate good supervisory ability. However, you must be organised and an excellent communicator, with good attention to detail and numeracy skills. 

Hours of work total 30 per week, from 9.30am to 5.30pm on Wednesday to Saturday.   Flexibility is essential as the restaurant opens throughout the week during peak periods; including half-term, summer and Christmas.

Catering Supervisor - Food-to-Go

A permanent, full-time supervisor is sought to take responsibility for our highly rated food-to-go outlets at Chatsworth; which offer top quality, pre-packed sandwiches and cakes - all handmade at Chatsworth, plus a good selection of hot pastries, hot and cold drinks, ice cream and snacks. 

Leading by example, you will ensure all staff are well trained, able to provide excellent, prompt customer service, whilst ensuring our food and drink displays are well-presented and adequately stocked.  

You will also assist with recruitment campaigns, conduct staff appraisals, and help supervise other areas of our catering restaurants as required. 

You should have supervisory experience, or demonstrate the ability to supervise a team, ideally from a catering related background.   Knowledge of HACCP, food hygiene and H&S is important, although full training can be provided.   

You should be an excellent communicator with good numerical skills, able to motivate a small team to provide consistently great service every day, including our busiest times. 

Hours of work total 40 per week, working 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis generally between the hours of 9.00am and 6.00pm.

Wedding & Event Co-ordinator 

An exciting position is available to assist with the co-ordination and delivery of events held at Chatsworth. 

Working closely with our catering and events team your duties will include: handling enquiries, attending wedding and trade fairs, promoting sales, processing all event related administration, and communicating with our clients and suppliers; ensuring excellent customer service at all times.   

In addition, you will also ensure the smooth delivery, set-up and close-down of events.  This requires flexibility to work in all areas of the catering department.  

You will be a highly organised individual, able to prioritise workloads and handle sometimes stressful situations in a calm, attentive manner.   Being aware of internal and external customers, you will also develop good working relationships and ensure a continued high standard of customer care. 

Excellent written and verbal communication alongside IT proficiency in all Microsoft Office packages is essential.   You should be an experienced administrator, with previous experience delivering events being an advantage.

Hours of work total 40 per week, working 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis which includes weekend work and the possibility of late finishes.

You must be willing to provide excellent customer care, able to serve customers in a calm, friendly manner in a busy environment. No experience is necessary as full training can be provided, however, some previous experience in event work would be advantageous.  

Full-time and part-time hours positions are available as described below, with both roles requiring flexibility to work during the daytime and evening, occasionally with late finishes.  

Option 1) 40 hours per week, working five days out of seven on a rota basis. 
Option 2) 20 hours per week worked over a seven day period.

Customer Service Assistants
Catering department 

Several part-time opportunities are available within the catering restaurants based at the Stables at Chatsworth; working in the self-service Carriage House Restaurant, Flying Childers Restaurant, and the Cavendish Restaurant.

Your duties will include: serving customers, working on the till, serving hot drinks, serving hot food, clearing tables and generally keeping the restaurants clean and tidy. When working in the Flying Childers restaurant, you will also greet customers and provide full table service. 
 
Whilst previous experience is not necessary, all applicants should be friendly, cheerful and enjoy working as part of a small team; taking pride in ensuring excellent customer service. 

Work is available from late March until early January and shift patterns are as described below:

Role 1) 30 hours per week, working 4 or 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis, starting at either 9.30am or 11am and finishing at 6pm. 

Role 2) 12 hours per week, working 2 or 3 days out of 7 on a rota basis, between 9.30am and 6pm.

Role 3) Casual hours of work, working on an ad hoc as and when required basis.

Customer Service Assistant
Food-to-Go Units
Casual work and Maternity Cover post of 23 hours per week on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Opportunities have arisen within our food-to-go units; serving our top quality pre-packed sandwiches and cakes, all handmade at Chatsworth, alongside hot pastries, hot and cold drinks, ice cream and snacks.

In order to ensure our customers receive the best possible service you will be required to gain product knowledge, understand stock control, and take part in regular merchandising and cleaning duties.    On occasion, you will also help in other catering areas as required. 

You should be comfortable working with food and able to provide a warm friendly greeting for all our customers, at even the busiest times. Previous experience in a customer facing role and in operating a till is desirable but this is not essential as full training will be provided.   

Role 1)   Casual hours are offered on an ad hoc, as and when required basis but are generally between 9.30am and 6.00pm.

Role 2)   One maternity cover opportunity is also available, primarily based in the farmyard café.   You will work 23 hours per week, between 9.30am and 6.00pm on a Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Swimming Teacher
4 hours per week on a Tuesday

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a swimming teacher to work within a private swimming pool on the Chatsworth Estate one day per week (academic term only).  

Applicants will be enthusiastic, creative and able to provide an enjoyable learning environment to adults and children of all abilities.  This involves the need for patience, diplomacy, imagination, good communication skills and confidence. 

Strong organizational skills are essential as you will be required to undertake 1 hour of general administration each week including lesson planning and evaluation. 

The successful applicant will have a minimum Level 2 Teaching certificate, ideally alongside a RLSS/NPLQ qualification. A current first aid at work certificate would be advantageous. You must be willing to undergo a DBS check. 

Hours of work total 4 per week, from 2pm to 6pm on a Tuesday, with flexibility to cover additional lessons.   1 hour of administration each week will also be required.

Full-time Warehouse Assistant
6.30am – 3.00pm, Monday to Friday

A full-time opportunity is available within the Retail Warehouse, working on a seasonal permanent basis from late March to early January each year. 

You will work as part of a small team, accurately receiving and recording stock and distributing it to the retail shops on the Chatsworth Estate.   Whilst your work will be assisted through the use of company vehicles and a forklift truck, some of the work will be physically demanding including lifting, carrying and moving heavy boxes.

Previous experience in a warehouse environment would be an advantage, however, full training will be provided.    You should be numerate and organised, able to develop excellent working relationships with suppliers and employees across the Estate.

Previous experience using a forklift truck and a relevant qualification would be an advantage, and you must hold a valid driving licence. 

Hours of work total 40 per week, from 6.30am to 3.00pm on Monday to Friday.   Flexibility is essential, particularly at busy times, including some weekend working.

Kitchen Porters

Several openings are available within our friendly catering kitchen team, assisting in maintaining a hygienic environment in the kitchen, by working as part of a small team cleaning surfaces, pots, plans, crockery and cutlery.    On occasion, you will also help out in other areas of the catering department, including assisting the chefs with basic food preparation. 

No experience is necessary as full training will be provided, however, previous experience in a busy restaurant kitchen and a food hygiene certificate would be an advantage.

Retail Customer Service Assistants
Part-time - Friday & Saturday

Two part-time opportunities are available within our newly designed retail shops, stocking a wide range of quality gifts.

We are well known for our high standards of customer care and you will assist in maintaining those standards at all times by engaging with our customers and obtaining excellent product knowledge to assist customers with purchases. 

You will work within a small, friendly team, assisting in both shops, duties include: stock control, merchandising and light cleaning. Previous experience operating a till and handling cash is essential.

Two positions available are described below:

Role 1, Orangery Shops – 15 hours per week, from 10am to 6pm on Friday & Saturdays.   This is a maternity cover contract, with work offered from late March to January 2018.   Flexibility is required as hours may vary slightly depending on the House opening times.

Role 2, Stables Shops – 16 hours per week, from 9.30am to 6.00pm on Friday and Saturday.    This is a seasonal permanent contract working from March to January each year.

Part-time Housekeeping Assistant
16 hours per week

An interesting opportunity is available for existing employees to join the housekeeping team on a permanent basis; working 16 hours per week from 8.00am to 12.00pm, Monday to Thursday. 

Your duties will include the general cleaning of the visitor route, holiday cottages, offices and cloakrooms, to include: vacuuming, dusting, polishing, moving lighter items of furniture and, on occasion, working from ladders and scaffolding. You will also take an active part in the annual deep clean of the visitor route. 

Whilst full training will be provided, you should be comfortable handling precious objects. 

You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work well on your own initiative as well as within a small team. Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience is desirable and any experience of working with antiques would be advantageous.

Temporary Housekeeping Assistants

Several opportunities are available for existing Chatsworth employees with knowledge of the visitor route to assist with the cleaning of ‘House Style’ Exhibition display cabinets and casings shown to the public. 

Previous housekeeping experience is not required as full training will be provided, however you must be comfortable handling precious objects, climbing ladders and working from heights.
