Casual Customer Service Assistants
Weddings and Events

Chatsworth hosts a variety of functions, ranging from the annual Horse Trials and the Chatsworth Country Fair to high quality weddings and events. Interesting opportunities are now available for enthusiastic, customer focused individuals to assist the team responsible for delivering the food offer at these events.

Chatsworth is known for exceptional standards of customer service and you will help deliver this. Following training, you will be expected to act in a professional manner at all times during a busy service, working effectively as part of a friendly, efficient team.

Your duties will include: greeting, resolving enquiries and serving guests quickly and efficiently. You will help in the smooth operation of events; supporting the bar, front of house and kitchen areas.  You will also assist in setting up the function venue; moving chairs, tables and laying tables – which can be physically demanding. 

Previous functions experience is not essential as full training will be provided, however, the successful applicants must be able to demonstrate a passion for delivering a first class service.

Hours offered will be on a casual basis with the majority of the work at the weekend or evenings with the possibility of late finishes.

Applicants must be aged 18 or over as you will be required to serve alcohol.

Casual Sandwich Production Assistants

We have positions available at Chatsworth for sandwich production assistants to work on a casual, as and when required basis.

Based on the Chatsworth estate, you will work as part of a small team producing a range of high quality sandwiches, wraps and boxed salads by hand to ensure our customers are able to purchase good quality snacks and sandwiches. 

Although full training will be provided it would be beneficial if you have previous experience working in a food production role or in a similar restaurant kitchen environment. Above all you should have a desire to deliver food of a consistently high quality.

It is essential to have an awareness of food hygiene and health and safety procedures and be able to work quickly and efficiently within set time limits.

Shift patterns will vary to accommodate business needs and will include some 3-4am start times.

Seasonal Customer Service Assistant
Cavendish Restaurant

An interesting opportunity has arisen for a seasonal Customer Service Assistant within the popular Cavendish restaurant at Chatsworth.

The Cavendish restaurant provides a broad selection of high quality food stuffs for our visitor, ranging from tea and coffee to a three course lunch or a Laurent-Perrier Champagne afternoon tea.

You will work within a friendly team, greeting customers, providing full table service, working on the till and serving hot and cold drinks. Whilst previous experience in a restaurant environment would be beneficial, this is not essential as we will provide full training.

We aim is to offer the visitor to Chatsworth an exceptional level of customer service and you will assist us in delivering that quality experience. Therefore you should be friendly, cheerful and enjoy working as part of a team, taking pride in delivering great customer service at all times.

This post is available immediately until early January 2016. Hours of work are 14.5 per week: Friday and Sunday from 12-4pm and Saturday 11am-6pm.

Collections Project Internship
Voluntary Position

An interesting and unique opportunity is available for an enthusiastic and committed individual to undertake this voluntary role working on the Inigo Jones Masque Drawings Documentation project in the Collections department at Chatsworth.

This project focuses on the retrospective documentation of an extensive collection of court masque drawings by Inigo Jones (1573-1652), the celebrated 17th century architect and theatrical designer. This work will contribute towards eventual online access to the collection via our website, and the potential for these drawings to be included in future exhibitions.

Your role will work on enhancing our current database and ensuring records are linked correctly. You will also assist with the application of a new numbering system and the professional photography of drawings.

The successful candidate will have proven ability to work independently and as part of a team and have previous experience working in a museum or historical house environment. Whilst previous use of a collections management database is advantageous you should be able to show excellent verbal and written communication skills with IT skills to an intermediate level. Prior knowledge of and an interest in Inigo Jones, the 17th century English Court and/or historical theatre design is preferable but not essential.

Relevant training in the use of a collections management database (KE EMu) will be provided and you will be given an introduction into handling and numbering objects. Alongside the chance to develop these new skills, make new friends and gain experience for your C.V, Chatsworth volunteers are also entitled to an estate pass and reasonable travel expenses are reimbursed.

This is a full time two month project, with flexibility to accommodate part time requests. We plan to have this completed by June/July 2015 with reasonable flexibility.

Housekeeping Assistants
The Duke & Duchess of Devonshire’s Private Household

Two positions are available for housekeeping assistants to join the existing small housekeeping team caring for the private apartments at Chatsworth.

Our housekeepers undertake general duties including cleaning, polishing, bed making, tidying as well as assisting in the comfort of guests and the Family.   You will have the opportunity to handle antiques and precious objects, for which full training will be provided.

Applicants should have an enthusiasm for housekeeping alongside some previous experience, although this is not essential as training can be provided.

Complete confidentiality and attention to detail is a prerequisite, as is a sense of humour.

These roles are 40 hours per week to include some split shifts and weekend work.  Flexibility is essential to these roles.

Casual housekeeping work is also available on an ad hoc basis, as and when required.  The majority of the work made available will include weekends and evening shifts from 6pm until 9 or 10pm.   

All positions are subject to a DBS check and will receive a competitive rate of pay.

Casual Catering Assistants
Cavendish Club

Casual work is available at the Cavendish club, based at the Estate Office, Edensor. The Cavendish club is a friendly private club serving drinks and food to employees, tenants and members of the Chatsworth sport clubs.

You will help with the smooth operation of the club by working effectively within a small team, serving drinks and snacks behind the bar, serving food to diners and supporting the kitchen during busy service.

You will assist customers, resolve enquiries and serve food and drinks quickly and efficiently. Experience of cash handling would be beneficial but is not essential.

You must possess great people skills and be happy to provide the excellent level of customer service enjoyed at the club.

Casual hours of work will include when the Cavendish club is open on; Wednesdays from 10am to 3pm and Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 6pm to 11pm.
