This is a portrait of the children of the 4th Duke of Devonshire in the gardens of Chiswick House, London.

On the left in the blue coat is William Cavendish (1748–1811), later 5th Duke. Seated on the swing with rosebuds in her hair is Dorothy Cavendish (1750–1794), later Duchess of Portland; her brother Richard Cavendish (1752–1781) grabs hold of the rope of the swing as their younger brother George (1754–1834), later Earl of Burlington of the second creation, chases him.

This portrait was painted in circa 1763–1765, and an entry in the Household Accounts records in 1765: "Paid ye Guardians what they had paid for a picture by Zophenii £84...0...0". It is unclear who commissioned this painting as the 4th Duke of Devonshire died in 1764.
