With so many things to do for kids young and old, Chatsworth Farmyard and Adventure Playground makes for a fun day out for all the family.

In the farmyard you'll meet our friendly animals, from chicks, piglets and horses to our mischievous lambs, goats and guinea pigs. We're also delighted to be home to a number of rare breeds including Suffolk Punch horses, Shire horses, Albion cattle, Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs (and piglets!), golden Guernsey goats and marsh daisy chickens.

Take a free ride on our tractor trailer through Stand Wood, everyone is welcome.

From the farmyard, take the secret tunnel to the children's playground. Fetch water from the stream using the Archimedes screw, and enjoy the huge sand play area (pack wellies and waterproofs!)

Important information: We're working on an exciting new redevelopment of the playground which will open in late spring. This means that part of the playground, including the zip wire and climbing frame, will not be accessible over half term. We're sorry for any disappointment, but promise it will be worth the wait.

Daily activities

Please note that all events within or beginning in the farmyard require visitors to have paid admission. All activities are subject to cancellation due to weather or circumstances beyond our control.

The farmyard and playground entrance is located at the top of the main house car park and is accessible by a paved walkway that is on a slight incline. We have installed induction loops at the farmyard entrance and welcome assistance dogs to both the farmyard and playground.

The farmyard is situated on two levels that are accessible by a lift. The paddocks, bird hide and picnic area are accessible via a gently sloping footpath.

An accessible toilet and toilet with a baby change facility are available in the farmyard near the entrance.

The playground is accessible via a paved footpath with a steeper gradient. Please be aware that the playground is a woodland site with uneven terrain and a soft bark surface with areas of sand.

An accessible toilet with a baby change facility is available in the playground via ramp.
