Chatsworth is celebrating a bumper year at the Dodson & Horrell Chatsworth International Horse Trials with spectators enjoying the thrilling elite equestrian competition along with lots of family friendly entertainment throughout the three days.

Chatsworth’s head of visitor experience Sally Ambrose said: “It’s been a glorious weekend for the Dodson & Horrell Chatsworth International Horse Trials. The ground was in perfect condition which ensured exciting world-class competition across the three days.

“Families are at the heart of everything we do at Chatsworth and this year we were delighted to add new circus skills and pottery elements to the show which were very well received and provided lots of family fun. The Newfoundland Rescue Bears and the Sheep Show also made a welcome return, both drawing large crowds and providing entertainment for all. Planning for next year is already underway as we look to build on the successes of 2017 to ensure next year’s event is bigger and better than ever.”

One of the most popular attractions for younger visitors proved to be getting a ride in a cart pulled along by the Newfoundland Rescue Bear Dogs, the popular gentle giants who are regular visitors to the event. The fast and furious Pony Club Mounted Games and Scurry Driving, where horse and carriage fly around an obstacle course at top speed, were also a hit. Mullinscote Gun Dog Display, Paws for Thought and have-a-go dog agility displays, the Hound Parade and The Sheep Show, featuring some real woolly characters, all combined to bring stunning Peak District countryside to life over a fantastic weekend of sunshine.

‘We’ve had a wonderful weekend of competition here at the Dodson & Horrell Chatsworth International Horse Trials, with all level of riders taking part, from the true amateur to the very best professionals in the world,’ Sam Horrell, Dodson & Horrell’s CEO, summed up. ‘It is always an honour to be a part of such an iconic event and we would like to thank all those who have made this weekend so special.”
