For the last four years the Devonshire Educational Trust has been working in partnership with Derbyshire County Council’s Virtual School to support children in care across Derbyshire. Last week a group of young people from the school came to meet the Duke and present him with a photograph of an art project they have recently been working on.

The young people presented the Duke with a framed photograph and chatted about their experience of working with creative mentors to produce art pieces. One of the young people filmed an interview with the Duke to form part of his GCSE portfolio and another read out a poem she had written about her experiences of having been in the care system.

In the afternoon the group joined DET staff for a tour of the house and enjoyed taking lots of photos along the route. DET will be working with more children in care in August with a special day of activities at the Stickyard.
