Rosette-haul for Nicholson at Chatsworth
Andrew Nicholson (NZL) dominated at the Dodson and Horrell Chatsworth International Horse Trials, seemingly fresh and extra competitive following his immaculate performance with his London 2012 ride Nereo to take 3rd place at the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials last week.
Not only did Nicholson win the Dodson & Horrell CIC3* Challenge feature class with his own, Nicky and Robin Salmon's Mr. Cruise Control but he also took the top honours in the Dodson & Horrell Advanced Section K with Rosemary and Mark Barlow's Qwanza plus CIC3* Section I with Viscount George who is also owned by Andrew and the Salmons.
Top names Oliver Townend and Zara Phillips joined Nicholson in the D&H Challenge in second and third place (on Imperial Master and High Kingdom respectively). Olympian Andrew Hoy (AUS) lead the field in section L of the two Dodson & Horrell Advanced classes with his own and Christine Classen's Cheeky Calimbo whilst Selina Miles took the CIC3* section J with her own Bodidly.
The event also hosted extremely hot fields at Novice and Intermediate level. Sixteen year old Constance Copesake from Lincolnshire won Chatsworth's leg of the KBIS Open Novice U-18 qualifiers which will see her and her ride Mr. Moon through to the Festival of Youth at Weston Park this Autumn.
