Revelation, the kinetic water sculpture created by Angela Conner has returned to its rightful place at Chatsworth. Originally installed in 1999, it was removed last year to undertake essential engineering works to the operating mechanism. Revelation arrived back on a very cold and misty morning in March and subsequently resided in a snow filled garden. Finally, after surviving its journey across land and poor weather, Revelation was lifted on to its plinth in the Jack Pond and is once again working gracefully.
Revelation will be the starting point for free tours of the waterworks in the garden at Chatsworth, taking place throughout the bank holiday weekend. We're going to be playing the Emperor Fountain at twice its ususal height, as well as turning on some of the extra jets around the garden. The 6th Duke was responsible for many of the waterworks in the garden, and he actually had some 'trick' jets in the Temple at the top of the cascade to catch guests by surprise. We promise we will be using them responsibly!
