It’s been a glorious day at Chatsworth today, and I enjoyed sneaking out into the Rose Garden at lunchtime to eat my sandwich. So many families were enjoying playing on the Salisbury lawn, and although I’d really rather have stayed out there all afternoon than return to my desk, I certainly came back feeling quite refreshed. No matter how busy the area just outside the Orangery Shop, the Cascade and the lawns, it’s amazing how, on even the busiest of days, you can still find a quiet corner in the Gardens to enjoy the peace and tranquillity. Anyone coming on our behind the scenes day next Wednesday will also be able to get away from it all in a real step back in time down in the Old Park where they’ll be able to marvel at the ancient woodland, with the prospect, if they’re lucky, of seeing some of the Chatsworth fallow deer who seek refuge down there…I think it has to be my favourite place on the whole Estate.
