Exploring sculpture

Key stages 14 | Allow 1.5 hours

The garden at Chatsworth has a wealth of sculpture both old and new for you to discover. Our permanent collection has grown and developed since the 1st Duke’s time into a fantastic resource to illustrate a variety of techniques, materials and approaches that you are able to explore.

The present Duke and Duchess, and the Chatsworth House Trust commission new sculptures to add to the collection, and we have developed a series of worksheets to help you introduce some of these more modern artists and pieces to your group.

We have two sets of worksheets in our teacher's resources: one aimed at younger children, and one containing more information and more challenging activities for older children and young people. The worksheets provide a mix of information about the artist and their pieces in the garden as well as some simple activities to undertake.

You can either have a self-guided visit using our downloadable worksheets or book one of our friendly and knowledgeable guides to provide additional information and stimulus into your visit.
