Garden visit

Key stages 1–5 | Higher education | Allow 1.5 hours

The 105-acre garden is full of surprises with waterworks, inspiring sculptures and amazing plants to discover. Pupils will explore the landscape with an intrepid garden guide to uncover some of its hidden stories and secrets.

Garden sculptures

Key stages 1–5 | Higher education | Allow 1.5 hours

Chatsworth is the perfect place to explore great art in a relaxed, open-air setting, with sculptures by Elisabeth Frink, Allen Jones, David Nash, Richard Long and more. Look out for Beyond Limits, Sotheby's famous sculpture exhibition, now well established every autumn.

Discover the glasshouses

Key stages 1 and 2 | Allow 1.5 hours

This session is focused on our glasshouses and their importance to the estate. From Sir Joseph Paxton through to the gardens team today, the glasshouses have been used to create rich and varied habitats to home a vast array of species from all over the world.

Discover the Kitchen Garden

Key stages 1 and 2 | Allow 1.5 hours

Join us on a tour of our Kitchen Garden and discover more about how we grow and use our fruit and vegetables. This unique insight into our Kitchen Garden will involve seasonal activities to promote an understanding of the life cycle of plants.

Land management trailer ride

Key stages 3–5 | Higher education | Allow 1 hour

Discover the hidden areas of Chatsworth Park or Stand Wood on a tractor and trailer ride. Learn about the ongoing farming, forestry, moorland management and park maintenance from a member of estate staff. Specialist tours for Key Stages 4, 5 and Higher Education can be arranged with our Education Officer.
