I love this time of year, when winter sets in and we all indulge in our festive favourites – mine being hearty comfort foods, using the best British ingredients and supporting our farmers, who brave all weathers to provide us with the finest produce.
It’s this time of year when I reflect on my childhood, split between Austria and the UK, when mealtime was the most social part of family life, and we were all part of adult conversation. Not to mention the small glass of beer or wine served to everyone.
I, like many others, have fallen into the trap of modern life and don’t have time these days to replicate those childhood memories (or maybe I do?). However, it’s during this season I take time to reminisce on past traditions and to enjoy the new. I do hope you all have the time to do the same.
Wishing you all a very happy, and hopefully delicious Christmas and new year.
