Chatsworth

HR Advisor

An opportunity has arisen of an interesting and diverse HR Advisor role based in the friendly HR & Payroll team at Chatsworth. In this role you will have an opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of HR activities, across several business sectors including: retail, catering, visitor attraction, farms, hotels and more.

Your daily work load is in part reactive and this will include providing general HR advice, mostly over the telephone, to a diverse workforce up to management level and supporting the Group HR & Safety Director in employee relations matters as they arise. 

You will have particular responsibility for the consistency and efficiency of the on-boarding admin process and associated compliance, including monitoring of probationary periods, amendment to contracts, DBS checks etc.

This is a busy office and therefore you must be able to prioritize your own workload.

Applicants should be CIPD qualified and have some HR generalist experience, including an understanding of employment law. Experience of HR databases would be an advantage but is not essential.  You must be able to demonstrate the ability to write professionally and concisely and be a competent user of the Microsoft office suite including word, excel and power point.

Garden and Events Florist 
(up to 12 months maternity cover)

A unique opportunity has arisen to work as part of a small production team delivering floral arrangements and potted plants for display within Chatsworth House, producing bouquets and floral arrangements for weddings and events, and plants for sale through our shops, as well as assisting in other areas of the garden as required.

An ability to provide floral displays befitting Chatsworth is required alongside general experience and knowledge of flower production, use and presentation.

The role is a full time position working 40 hours per week, five days out of seven, which will include at least one weekend day but this can be flexible.  Therefore, please indicate your preferred working pattern on your application.

Due to the nature of this role, a DBS check and a full clean driving license will be required.

Devonshire Group IT Support Technician

A new position has been created within the Devonshire Group IT department predominately based at Chatsworth, but working across all sites including Bolton Abbey, Yorkshire.

Being one of the ‘faces of IT’ across the group, you will work within a very close, friendly and supportive IT team.   You will play an active role in the day-to-day work of the IT department, providing excellent customer service to IT users and suppliers.    Taking the lead on some business applications, you will also be involved in projects across the Group.

The successful applicant for this exciting role will be able to demonstrate:
• Proven expertise on Windows 7 & 10 as well as IOS
• Proven experience of supporting EPOS, payment systems, networks and projects
• Knowledge of Helpdesk procedures and software
• Proven ability to quickly acquire and apply new skills in the use of IT
hardware and software
• A good record of providing a high level of customer service in IT
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Be an excellent communicator at all levels within the business

You will work 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis generally between 8am and 6pm including Bank Holidays.    As the role involves travel across the Devonshire Group, use of your own transport is essential.

Casual Customer Service Assistants
Cavendish Club

We have several opportunities for casual Customer Service Assistants to join the team at The Cavendish Club; a friendly private club based at the Estate Office with a membership consisting of employees, tenants and members of the Chatsworth sport clubs.

You will help with the smooth operation of the club by working effectively within a small team; serving drinks and snacks from the bar, serving food at tables and supporting the kitchen during busy service.

You must possess great people skills and be happy to maintain the excellent level of customer service enjoyed at the club. Experience of cash handling would be beneficial but is not essential. Due to restrictions on the sale of alcohol, applicants must be aged 18 or over.

Casual work, on an as and when required basis, is available when the club is open on;
• Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 3pm, and
• Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 4pm to 11pm.

Temporary Warehouse Assistant
Full time until December 2018

A full-time opportunity is available within the Retail Warehouse, working on a temporary basis until late December 2018.

You will work as part of a small team, accurately receiving and recording stock and distributing it to the retail shops on the Chatsworth Estate. Whilst your work will be assisted through the use of company vehicles and a forklift truck, some of the work will be physically demanding including lifting, carrying and moving heavy boxes.

Previous experience in a warehouse environment would be an advantage, however, full training will be provided. You should be numerate and organised, able to develop excellent working relationships with suppliers and employees across the Estate.

Previous experience using a forklift truck and a relevant qualification would be an advantage but is not essential, however, you must hold a valid driving license.

Hours of work total 40 per week, from 6.30am to 3.00pm on Monday to Friday. Flexibility is essential, particularly at busy times, including some weekend working.

Casual Customer Service Assistants
Catering department

Casual opportunities are available within the catering restaurants at Chatsworth, with a range of days and hours available, as described below.

No previous catering experience is necessary as our full training will ensure that you are able to provide the exceptional customer service of which we are proud.  However, you must be able to demonstrate an interest in customer care, be a great team worker, friendly, cheerful and willing to be flexible.

Your duties will include: serving customers, working on the till, serving hot and cold drinks and food, clearing tables and generally keeping the restaurants clean and tidy.  

Hours available are on a casual basis, as and when required basis but will include weekend work.  You will be offered work until 6 January 2019 when the season ends, and if interested you will have the opportunity to rejoin us from 23rd March 2019 onwards when the House reopens.

Kitchen Porter

Catering department
Casual and Permanent Posts available

Opportunities are available for kitchen porters within our friendly catering team at Chatsworth.

You will ensure that a clean, hygienic environment is maintained in the kitchen by cleaning surfaces and maintaining order.    You will also provide an adequate supply of clean pans, crockery and cutlery.   Flexibility is essential in this role and you should be willing to help out in other areas of the catering department including assisting the chefs with basic food preparation.

You should be able to work quickly and efficiently, be self-motivated, with the ability to work well under pressure.  Ideally, you will have a food hygiene certificate with previous experience of working in a busy restaurant kitchen but this is not essential as full training will be provided. 

Permanent hours are 40 per week, 5 out of 7 days including weekends, with the occasional need for additional hours in busy periods - working March to December each year.  Casual hours are offered on an as and when required basis.
