Events Manager Apprenticeship

Working within the busy but rewarding events team, you will assist the Event Coordinator & Events Operations Assistant with the administration and operations of the Chatsworth House Trust public events programme.

You will play an active role assisting with a variety of events in the house, garden, park and theatre, from circulating correspondence to helping out with the organisation of staff, ticketing, car parking and cash on site for the large public events in the park (e.g. Country Fair, Horse Trials, RHS).

You’ll need to be quick to learn, with an eye for detail. You must be committed to offering excellent customer service and be comfortable working in a fast moving and demanding environment.  This role will suit you if you have excellent organisation and time management skills and can prioritise a busy workload.

You must be comfortable working with Microsoft Office applications and have a full UK driving license due to the use of park vehicles.

This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week with one hour for lunch. You will work Tuesday to Friday and either Saturday or Sunday during the main season (March to December). However, as this is a hands-on role you will need to be flexible and be available to work evenings and weekends depending on the needs of the business.

When the house closes you will work Monday to Friday.

Assistant Catering Supervisor

Are you a natural leader with the desire to switch up your job, take on a fresh challenge and experience something new?

This is a varied and interesting role providing supervisory support for a variety of our catering outlets including our high-end restaurants to casual dining, covering daily operations, wedding and other private events. You will primarily be based in our beautiful restaurants in the 18th Century stables building next to Chatsworth House or at times in small outlets or marquees in our gardens and grounds.

We seek applicants with a passion for delivering top quality service who can think on their feet in a fast paced environment. You will need good communication skills and have the confidence to coordinate and motivate a team of staff.

We are proud of our excellent customer service and you will uphold our high standards of customer care, ensuring best levels of presentation at all times. You’ll be given all the training you need to excel in your job and will be supported by your colleagues, supervisors and managers.

This is a permanent seasonal, full-time position working 40 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 from late March to early January each year. Due to the nature of events this will include working some weekends and evenings, however your working days are usually rostered at least one month in advance.

Casual Customer Service Assistant
The Cavendish Restaurant

Are you looking to work on an ad hoc, as and when suits you basis? Would you like to join a small, welcoming and friendly team?

You will serve high quality brunches and lunches from our exclusive menu featuring fresh, seasonal produce and locally sourced food. You will also uphold our high standards of customer service, meaning you can go home each day knowing you have helped make our visitor’s Chatsworth experience special.

We will help you succeed in this job by providing you with support, training and coaching from your colleagues, supervisors and managers.

The Cavendish Restaurant opens 7 days a week and hours of work are offered on a casual, as and when required basis, working either a 6 ½ or 4 hour shift between 11am and 6pm each day. You should have good availability for work, particularly at weekends.

Customer Service Assistant
Food-to-Go Units

If you are looking for part-time, permanent work but want to work in a friendly and inclusive environment, then our Catering team have just the role for you.

You will be based primarily in the food-to-go units; serving our top quality pre-packed sandwiches and cakes, all handmade at Chatsworth, alongside hot pasties, hot and cold drinks, ice cream and snacks.

In order to ensure our customers receive the best possible service you will be required to gain product knowledge, understand stock control, and take part in regular merchandising and cleaning duties. On occasion, you will also help in other catering areas as required.

You should be comfortable working with food and able to provide a warm friendly greeting for all our customers, at even the busiest times. Previous experience in a customer facing role and in operating a till is desirable but this is not essential as full training will be provided.

The hours of work are 24 per week, working 4 days out of 7 on a rota basis, there may be occasional need for flexibility and additional hours in busy periods. This is a seasonal permanent vacancy working late March to early January each year.

Collections Exhibitions & Housekeeping Team
Full-time (would consider flexible working)

If you are looking for an opportunity to use your strong administrative skills then we have an ideal opportunity for you to join our team.

In this role you will provide high quality administrative support to the Director of Collections & Exhibitions (DoCE), the wider team, as well as being point of contact for the Chatsworth Photo Library.

To succeed in this role, administrative and organisational skills are a given. You will also be a good communicator, and able to demonstrate experience of working to tight deadlines with the ability to prioritise.  A meticulous, thorough approach to tasks and the ability to work unsupervised are also essential requirements for the role.

A thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is essential, with experience of using databases desirable.  A keen interest in learning about, and sharing The Devonshire Collections is intrinsic to the team’s philosophy, and we encourage an outward and inclusive approach to collections access.

Hours are 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday, however flexibility is essential in order to meet business requirements on occasion.  For the right candidate we would consider flexible working patterns, for example, 9.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday or job share.

Senior Events Assistant
2 x Part time (seasonal permanent) posts

If you are looking for part-time work and would enjoy providing a level of service that exceeds our clients and their guest’s expectations, then then our Catering team has just the role for you.  
In this role you will assist in the delivery of Chatsworth’s high profile events including anything from small, intimate dinner parties to large and luxurious weddings.

Your duties will be varied including: greeting customers, resolving enquiries and serving guests quickly and efficiently. You will lead the functions team in the absence of the Function Supervisor and be able to step in as Master of Ceremonies if requested by the client or Function Supervisor.  You will also help in the smooth set up and operation of events; supporting the bar, front of house and kitchen areas, as well as assisting in setting up the function venue - moving chairs, tables and laying tables (which can be physically demanding). 

Drawing on your previous experience within weddings, group lunches, corporate meetings, and VIP events you will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills with a natural ability to communicate clearly and concisely with important clients, VIP’s and in front of large groups of people.

You must also have prior experience of leading and/or managing a team.

Applicants must be aged 18 or over as you will be required to serve alcohol. 

You will work 20 hours per week working over a seven day period on a seasonal permanent basis (working from April until early January) with the flexibility to work during the daytime and evening, occasionally with late finishes.

Administration Officer
Visitor Experience & Guide Team

Would you like a role where you can use your excellent organization and administrative skills?  If so, we have an excellent opportunity for you to join us as an administrative officer where you will provide high quality administration and co-ordination for the efficient running of the Visitor Experience Team. 

The role is varied and will include: maintaining staff records, payroll reports and wage demands for the 150 strong team; creating and maintaining rotas against budgets and assisting in the reconciliation of cash; appointment allocation of Guides to deliver tours. You will also maintain the admission system, including setting up products, running reports and analysing data.
 
You must have excellent customer service skills, able to work positively under pressure and organize your time in order to work productively both individually and as part of the supervisory team.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, and have proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel. Previous experience of admissions systems including setting up and managing back office would be desirable.

This is a permanent position working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, however, you must be available to work some weekends and evenings on a roster basis.

Assistant Supervisor - Visitor Experience Team

This is an excellent opportunity to provide first line support to the Senior Supervisor to achieve the delivery of an outstanding visitor journey across both the Visitor Experience and Guide teams. Assisting in operational and performance management, including rostering and the delivery of first aid.

Your duties will include offering a friendly and efficient welcome and farewell to Chatsworth visitors, quick response to any first aid or security requests, handling incident reports and understanding all security and emergency procedures in order to communicate effectively to your team. You will be involved in recruiting and training new members of the team.

You should have proven supervisory experience and will be a strong communicator with excellent customer service skills, experience of working under pressure and a strong work ethic with demonstrable team working skills.  Experience of admission systems and a full clean driving license would be beneficial.  A current first aid certificate would also be an advantage.  

This is a seasonal permanent position, working from March until early January.  You will work 40 hours per week working 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis including regular weekends and occasional evening work.  Flexibility is required in order to meet the needs of the business.

Casual Customer Service Assistants
The Cavendish Club

We have several opportunities for casual Customer Service Assistants to join the team at The Cavendish Club; a friendly private club based at the Estate Office with a membership consisting of employees, tenants and members of the Chatsworth sport clubs.

You will help with the smooth operation of the club by working effectively within a small team; serving drinks and snacks from the bar, serving food at tables and supporting the kitchen during busy service.

You must possess great people skills and be happy to maintain the excellent level of customer service enjoyed at the club. Experience of cash handling would be beneficial but is not essential. Due to restrictions on the sale of alcohol, applicants must be aged 18 or over.

Casual shifts are available when the club is open on Wednesday and Friday lunchtimes (from 10am to 3pm) and Tuesday to Saturday evenings (from 5/6pm to 11pm).

Chatsworth Estate Farm Shop and Café
Monday to Friday, 10.30am to 2.30pm

If you are looking for part-time, permanent work but want to work in a fun, friendly and inclusive environment, then the Estate Farm Shop and Café has just the role for you.

You’ll be given all the training you need to be excellent in your job. You will be supported by your colleagues, supervisors and managers, and will also receive our customer service and food hygiene training.

In the café, you will take orders, serve food, make hot drinks and also work at the till. On occasion, you may also be required to assist in the shop; serving food from the counters and taking payment at the tills.

You must enjoy working as part of a successful team, be committed, and be able to provide the excellent customer service of which we are proud, meaning you can go home knowing you have helped make a difference to each and every one of our customer’s days.

Hours of work are 20 per week, working from Monday to Friday from 10.30am to 2.30pm. On occasion, there will be a requirement to work further hours to meet the needs of the business, particularly at busy times of the year.

Assistant Restaurant Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for someone with fine dining experience to join our friendly team and assist with the smooth running of the restaurants within the Hotel.

The Cavendish Hotel, Baslow
Receptionist

A full-time receptionist position is now available at the Cavendish Hotel, Baslow.
This is an important post, as you will often be the first person our customers meet, and your exemplary customer care standards will set the tone for the whole of the Hotel, ensuring our guests receive end to end first rate, friendly and efficient service.


Your duties will include; answering telephone calls, checking-in and out guests efficiently, processing guest administration, handling payment transactions, answering customer enquiries and ensuring public areas are presented to a high standard.
You will be an excellent communicator, a proficient IT user and have previous experience handling administration. Being organized and methodical in your approach to work, you will also be skilled at prioritising your workload to help respond to guest needs as efficiently as possible.


Experience of a hotel reservation system (such as Rezlynx or Resdiary), an awareness of industry standards and knowledge of the local area are all desirable.


This is a full-time position and flexibility is essential to be able to work varied shifts that include weekends, bank holidays, early starts and late finishes; generally 7am to 3pm, or 3pm to 11pm.
