Six month graduate internship
Assistant and project co-ordinator to Lord Burlington

An exciting opportunity is available for a graduate, with knowledge of the UK education system and a real interest in education and learning to provide support to Lord Burlington in his many commitments.

Lord Burlington works in a strategic role for Chatsworth and the Devonshire group; he recently led on the development and successful implementation of the group core values and vision.  He has been instrumental in developing the Devonshire Education Trust; the triple bottom line contribution; and Lismore Castle Arts.  This year he was invited to become Chancellor of Derby University.

In this role you will have the opportunity to make suggestions and contribute to the success of each project whilst acting as a key point of contact in Derbyshire; ensuring that projects progress to time and that nothing is missed.  You will undertake research and help draft speeches and articles, as well as attending meetings, taking minutes, tracking projects and sending reminders.
 
You must be a self-starter, with excellent IT and word processing skills – able to demonstrate knowledge of the education system, as well as being organised, personable and discreet.

Staffing & Administration Coordinator
Fixed Term, 16 hours per week

An interesting part-time opportunity has become available for a Staffing and Administration Coordinator, working for both the Catering and Retail departments, for a fixed term period covering Maternity Leave.

You will be responsible for collating manual working hours, and checking the Time & Attendance (T&A) system against recorded clocks, submitting a monthly wage demand to Payroll. Aside from Payroll duties, you will be responsible for new starter paperwork for the Catering and Retail departments, liaising with Managers regarding the recruitment of new staff, and ensuring that all the necessary documentation is completed and sent to HR. You will also be the point of contact for any departmental queries.

The successful candidate will have strong administrative skills, be highly organised and a self-starter, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.  You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and any experience with T&A systems would be highly desirable. Intermediate IT skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook are essential for the role. 

Your working hours will be 16 hours per week, from 9:00am – 5:30pm on two days per week (set days open for discussion – including a Monday), although flexibility is essential to meet the strict requirements of payroll deadlines.

Forestry Worker
Permanent, 39 hours per week

Chatsworth Forestry Department are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated forestry worker to work alongside the forestry team on the Chatsworth Estate in Derbyshire.

The successful applicant will work under the instruction of the Forestry Manager to assist in delivering multi-purpose forestry on a modern estate.

It is envisaged that applicants will ideally have a full driving license with some experience of tractor driving plus NTPC chainsaw certification including tree climbing and arboratory work.

Hours of work total 39 per week, usually from 07:30 to 16:30 Monday to Thursday, 07:30 to 15:30 Friday, but some flexibility around these hours are expected.

This is a permanent position; salary will be communserate to experience.

Estate Farm Shop Café
Daytime Cook (Part-Time)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a cook to work within a small team responsible for the production of good home cooked meals for the Café at the award winning Chatsworth Estate Farm Shop. 

This position would suit a good home cook or aspiring chef currently in training. The successful applicant will work well under pressure, be quick to learn and be self- motivated.

Applicants will be committed to the highest health and safety and hygiene standards.

This is a permanent position, working 16 hours per week usually on a Friday and Saturday between 7.00am and 6.00pm (8 hours per day) with no split shifts. However, flexibility will be required, particularly at busy periods.

Personal Carer

A cheerful and kind personal carer is required to join a small team providing high quality, 24-hour care for an independent elderly lady on the Chatsworth estate. This is a permanent position, to start as soon as possible.

We have both day and night shifts available (waking nights) and can be flexible to meet your availability.

You will be responsible for overnight and daytime monitoring and assistance with personal care as required. This post will be ideal for a caring, patient, kind and active individual with a good sense of humour.

Previous experience and proof of training to provide personal care is essential but a nursing qualification is not necessary. Given the nature of the role, sensitivity and confidentiality are an absolute priority.

An excellent rate of pay is offered but please note this is not a live-in position.

Baker
Estate Farm Shop

A wonderful opportunity has arisen for a baker with imagination and flare to join our friendly and experienced team at the award winning Estate Farm Shop. 

This is a varied and interesting role in which you will work within the bakery team, maintaining current high standards and the smooth operation of the department. Your role will encompass all aspects of a busy bakery, particularly baking breads and cakes. Experience of working within a bakery/kitchen environment is required.

This is a permanent position working 40 hours per week usually on a Sunday (early morning bread shift) and Monday to Thursday (usually 8 hours between 6.00am and 4.30pm). However, some flexibility will be required around working hours to meet the demands of the business particularly at busy times. Casual Customer Service Assistants

Cavendish Club

We have several opportunities for casual Customer Service Assistants to join the team at The Cavendish Club.  The Cavendish club is a friendly private club based at the Estate Office serving drinks and food to employees, tenants and members of the Chatsworth sport clubs. 

You will help with the smooth operation of the club by working effectively within a small team; serving drinks and snacks from the bar, serving food at tables and supporting the kitchen during busy service.

You must possess great people skills and be happy to maintain the excellent level of customer service enjoyed at the club. Experience of cash handling would be beneficial but is not essential. Due to restrictions on the sale of alcohol, applicants must be aged 18 or over.

• Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 3pm, and

Casual Customer Service Assistants

Catering department

Casual opportunities are available within the catering and food-to-go restaurants at Chatsworth.

No previous catering experience is necessary as our full training will ensure that you are able to provide the exceptional customer service of which we are proud.  However, you must be able to demonstrate an interest in customer care, be a great team worker, friendly, cheerful and willing to be flexible.

Your duties will include: serving customers, working on the till, serving hot and cold drinks and food, clearing tables and generally keeping the restaurants clean and tidy.

Kitchen Porter
Catering department

Opportunities are available for kitchen porters within our friendly catering team at Chatsworth.

You will ensure that a clean, hygienic environment is maintained in the kitchen by cleaning surfaces and maintaining order.    You will also provide an adequate supply of clean pans, crockery and cutlery.   Flexibility is essential in this role and you should be willing to help out in other areas of the catering department including assisting the chefs with basic food preparation.

You should be able to work quickly and efficiently, be self-motivated, with the ability to work well under pressure.  Ideally, you will have a food hygiene certificate with previous experience of working in a busy restaurant kitchen but this is not essential as full training will be provided. 

Permanent hours are 40 per week, 5 out of 7 days including weekends, with the occasional need for additional hours in busy periods - working March to December each year.  Casual hours are offered on an as and when required basis.
