Arts Engagement Officer

An exciting opportunity is available for an enthusiastic creative person with a passion for the arts to oversee our programme of engagement with children and young people, and visitors of all ages.

Chatsworth currently offers a range of educational activities which showcase the wealth of historic, environmental and artistic learning opportunities on the estate. Your role will focus on the development and delivery of arts activities linked to our exhibition and events programme; with our 2017 main exhibition ‘House Style’ being the focus for much of your work.

You should have a background in teaching or experience of working in a museum, gallery or heritage setting, alongside excellent creative skills, and the ability to inspire creativity and curiosity about the arts in others. An interest in working with young people is essential, as are excellent communication skills and the ability to engage positively with a range of people.

Hours of work total 37.5 per week, from 9.00am to 5.30pm on Monday to Friday. This is a one year fixed term position, accompanied by a salary of £24,000 gross per annum.

Human Resources Advisor
Full-time Maternity Cover Role

An interesting opportunity has arisen within the HR team at Chatsworth which would suit a qualified or part qualified HR practitioner looking to expand on their experience.

You will work within a busy HR, training and payroll team of 10 people responsible for 1200 employees. You will be responsible for recruitment and the new starter process, taking part in some interviews, as well as assisting the team with all other HR matters including: contracts, discipline and grievance, occupational health and general staff enquiries. The HR team also organise a large staff party and children’s party each year, employee of the quarter and long service awards.

Applicants must have sound experience in HR, including recruitment and be willing to fully contribute to the success of the team.

Hours of work total 35 per week, from 9.00am to 5.00pm on Monday to Friday.

Catering Supervisor
Carriage House Restaurant

A full-time opportunity is available within the self-service Carriage House Restaurant which offers a range of freshly prepared, locally sourced food and drinks.

Leading by example, you will ensure all staff are well trained, able to provide excellent, prompt customer service, whilst ensuring our food and drink displays are well-presented and adequately stocked.

You should have supervisory experience, or demonstrate the ability to supervise a team, ideally from a catering related background. Knowledge of HACCP, food hygiene and H&S is important, although full training can be provided.

You should be an excellent communicator with good numerical skills, able to motivate a small team to provide consistently great service every day, including at our busiest times.

Hours of work total 40 per week, working 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis generally between the hours of 9.00am and 6.00pm. You will work on a seasonal permanent basis from late March to early January each year.

Chef de Partie

A full-time, permanent opportunity has arisen within our friendly catering team at Chatsworth.

As part of the team you will work with the senior chefs to help with the development and training of junior members of the kitchen staff. You will also assist with the creation of new dishes and menus, using seasonal, fresh produce from local suppliers wherever possible.

You should be able to demonstrate a genuine desire to deliver food of the highest quality in all sections of the business. You will have experienced time spent as section leader and will also be keen to assist in maintaining our exemplary health & safety and hygiene practices.

This is a full time position working 40 hours per week, five days out of seven on a rota basis. Flexibility will be essential to meet the needs of the business; however, the majority of the work will be 9.00am-5.30pm.

Commis Pastry Chef
Catering department

A career opportunity has arisen for a commis chef with a passion for pastry to work within our friendly catering chef and bakery team at Chatsworth.

You will gain valuable experience assisting in the production of a diverse range of top quality pastry products and will learn the techniques to make all ranges of pastry including; short-crust, filo, choux pastry, flaky pastry and puff pastries. The produce you make will be used in our afternoon teas, fine dining desserts and for special events.

You will also be taught kitchen management including stock and cost control, HACCP procedures, health and safety and food hygiene procedures.

You should have some previous experience of working in a food production role in a restaurant kitchen or similar environment and awareness of health and safety and food hygiene, together with a genuine desire to deliver products of the highest quality. Pastry experience is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided.

Casual Customer Service Assistants
Catering department

Several casual opportunities are available within our catering outlets at Chatsworth. The work will be varied and interesting as you will have the opportunity to gain experience across our diverse range of establishments which include: the self-service Carriage House Restaurant, Flying Childers restaurant, Food-to-Go outlets and the Cavendish Restaurant.

Your duties will also vary and include: serving customers, working on the till, serving hot drinks, serving hot food, clearing tables and general cleaning and close-down duties. On occasion and after receiving training, you will also greet customers and provide full table service.

Whilst previous experience is not necessary as full training is provided, all applicants should be friendly, cheerful and enjoy working as part of a small team; taking pride in ensuring excellent customer service.

Hours are offered on an ad hoc, as and when required basis. You should have good availability for work, generally between the times of 9.00am and 6.00pm.

Kitchen porters

Full-time and casual hours available

Several openings are available within our friendly catering kitchen team, assisting in maintaining a hygienic environment in the kitchen, by working as part of a small team cleaning surfaces, pots, plans, crockery and cutlery. On occasion, you will also help out in other areas of the catering department, including assisting the chefs with basic food preparation.

No experience is necessary as full training will be provided, however, previous experience in a busy restaurant kitchen and a food hygiene certificate would be an advantage.

Hours of work are as shown below:

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week working 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis, generally between 9am and 6pm.
  • Casual hours, offered on an ad hoc, as and when required basis.

Receptionist

Located on the Chatsworth Estate, the Cavendish is a stylish and highly rated 24 bedroom hotel, and is part of the Chatsworth Estates portfolio including; a 2 AA rosette restaurant, the less formal Garden Room Restaurant and private conference and dining facilities. We place great emphasis on delivering high standards of customer care.

We are looking for a highly motivated person with a pleasant and outgoing personality to join our already well established Reception Team.

Your aim will be to work with the team to ensure all our guests receive the best possible experience during their stay.

Previous hotel reception experience will be an advantage, and you must have your own transport.

This is a full time position and shift and weekend work is a requirement. Hours of work are 162 per month over a shift pattern.
