Saturday 20 & Sunday 21 July | 10am to 3.30pm
£185 per person, including garden entry and lunch
Join us for a two-day workshop where you'll explore the world of botanical lino printing and create your own concertina book of prints. Under expert guidance, you’ll learn the intricate process of creating, carving, and printing your own plates, using flowers from the Chatsworth cutting garden as your inspiration.
During this workshop, you'll have access to the Chatsworth cutting garden, where you'll handpick flowers to serve as inspiration for your designs.
Learn essential techniques including drawing, design principles, lino preparation, safe handling of carving tools, mark making, transferring designs onto lino, and various printing methods.
You'll have the opportunity to exchange prints with fellow artists and assemble your creations into a bespoke concertina book.
Some time will be spent in the cutting garden collecting flowers. Please wear weather appropriate clothing, long trousers and suitable footwear.
No prior experience is necessary as our tutor will guide you through each step of the process. Suitable for ages 18 and above.
Each day includes complimentary access to the Chatsworth garden, refreshments and a delicious locally sourced graze box lunch from the Chatsworth Farm Shop.
Please meet at the top garden gates (near the Stables) at 9:50am for a 10am start.
Accessibility
The workshops will take place in the Old Potting Shed, which is a step-free, accessible venue located just inside the Chatsworth Garden. Please email education@chatsworth.org if you have any questions about your individual needs and we will be happy to help.
There is an incline into the cutting garden and some steps to get into the raised beds. A member of the team can assist when collecting flowers if you have mobility concerns.
About the artist
This workshop is led by Diane Cooper, an art teacher of 18 years who now provides workshops for all ages here at Chatsworth and at her home studio. Diane is Fine Art trained and in her own practice she specializes in oil painting and printmaking using a range of processes.
