Spotlight Gallery
Included with all house tickets
The Spotlight Gallery, located off the Vestibule in the house, offers us the opportunity to showcase new or interesting items preserved in the Devonshire Collections that are not usually on display.
Patterns of the Past is a display of three previously unseen pieces of Point de Gaze lace from our textile archive.
Lace was once a textile reserved only for the very wealthy, as it was made by hand and took hundreds of hours to create.
The pieces on display were highlighted by a visiting expert as being of particularly high quality and are a testament to the incredible patience and skill of the mostly underappreciated workers who created them.
