Textiles Curator Susie Stokoe leads an exploration into the history and creation of treasured textiles selected from the Devonshire Collection to be featured in this year's exhibition, The Gorgeous Nothings.
Take a closer look at delicate lace collars, intricate floral themed accessories, and dresses and costums, including the oyster pink butterfly gown made for Duchess Amanda by Alessandro Michele for Gucci in 2017, a shepherdess costume made for Duchess Evelyn in 1889, and a contemporary piece by Christopher Kane (dubbed by Vogue as the “Willy Wonka of fashion”) from his 2015 autumn winter collection.
We’ll also look at a stunning dress on loan from the collection of British-Cypriot designer, Hussein Chalayan MBE, a two-time winner of Designer of the Year.
