With the rich generosity of nature all around us autumn brings forth its berries and fruits in the Chatsworth Garden. This autumnal wellness day will focus upon herbs and fruits that will be used to enhance your physical wellbeing through the winter.

There will be some foraging and gathering of ingredients for your winter medicine cabinets. You will learn to make a variety of herbal medicines including a traditional elderberry syrup to ward off coughs and colds, a muscle rub for winter aches and pains or an aromatic cream to help with breathing.

We will explore the use of kitchen cupboard spices and make a traditional electuary from dried fruits and dried powdered herbs. These practical workshops will inspire you to focus upon sensory awareness to taste teas and tinctures. A day to connect to nature and get ready for the winter months.

About the session

The session includes tea, coffee and a delicious locally sourced graze box lunch from the Chatsworth Farm Shop.

The event will take place at the Chatsworth Stickyard which is an outdoor, covered venue located in the Stand Wood near the Farmyard. There is a fairly steep incline to reach the venue. We will be going out into the Chatsworth Kitchen Garden – there may be significant periods of walking and standing. Please ensure you dress appropriately for the weather.

Please contact education@chatsworth.org if you have any questions about access and we will be able to advise you.

Please alert the course leader if you have any food allergies.

Arrive for a prompt start at 10am.

A Celebrating the Cascade event

Our new Celebrating the Cascade wellness sessions have been designed to delight and inspire you. We invite you to enjoy the calm and beauty of nature in the garden and wider landscape. Find balance as you step away from daily routines and pause with us by still and flowing waters. We invite you to open your heart and mind to the environment and connect with our wonderful surroundings.

The Celebrating the Cascade project is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery Players, the project is working to restore the Cascade, safeguarding it for the enjoyment of future generations and enabling more people to get involved with Chatsworth.

If you would like to support this project, please make a donation to Chatsworth House Trust here.
