Join Head of Gardens and Landscape Steve Porter as he explores the long history of water development, use, and management at Chatsworth, focussing on how water has been harnessed over the centuries. From historic watercourses and reservoirs to more recent restoration efforts, Steve will look into the historical significance of Chatsworth’s water systems and the steps taken to uncover and restore lost elements.
The talk will cover current strategies for managing water, including the challenges of maintaining reservoirs, balancing wildlife conservation, and maintaining water systems along with the Cascade Restoration Project, its aims and wider benefits.
Meeting point and refreshments
This event takes place in the Hartington Room in the Chatsworth Stables and includes a cup of tea or coffee. Doors will be open from 10.40am. Latecomers may not be admitted.
