£7.50 per person | 6 to 7.30pm

In these interactive online events we match one object you can see on the visitor route at Chatsworth with one thing not currently on display. Making thematic connections between them, you’ll take a close and detailed look at the artworks, create your own from the comfort of home, and learn something new along the way!

The event will feature a short talk followed by a making workshop.

Sessions will run on the following dates:

23 September | Perfume burner and botany

Learn more about our silver perfume burner and Maria Merian's botanical illustrations, before having a go at some observational drawing using items from your home. 

Items you will need:

  • A variety of drawing utensils such as pens, pencils, crayons
  • Some paper
  • A selection of objects from around your home to draw
  • Some unusual shaped fruit or vegetables (optional) or flowers and houseplants

21 October | Make a scene

Learn more about the landscape at Chatsworth by taking a closer look at A View Of Chatsworth by Jan Siberechts and a sketch by Thomas Gainsborough. After learning some drawing techniques you will then have a go at drawing landscapes yourself.

Items you will need:

  • A variety of dry drawing media: oil or chalk pastels, graphite, pencils or charcoal
  • Paper to draw on

4 November | Portraits young and old

Learn more about Michael Craig-Martin’s Laura, Countess of Burlington and Fillipino Lippi’s Mino da Fiesole, before getting stuck in to a practical art session using a variety of media.

Items you will need:

  • Recycled paper or card for collage (newspaper, magazine, envelope, cereal boxes etc)
  • Scissors, glue and or any kind of sticky tape
  • A mirror or photographs of faces
  • Paper for your composition
  • Pens and pencils
