This special one-off event celebrates the culmination of this year's exhibition of monumental sculpture in the park, Radical Horizons: the Art of Burning Man at Chatsworth.

As is tradition at the Burning Man event in Nevada, USA, we will be setting alight to one of the sculptures in the exhibition, Relevé by Rebekah Waites. We'll also be illuminating some of the other sculptures in the exhibition to allow those at the event to, literally, see them in a new light.

To add to the enjoyment, there will be live music, circus and fire performers and entertainers as well as a range of food and drink options. Plus a very special performance that we’ll be announcing details of soon.

6.30pm   Gates open
7.00-8.30pm   Entertainment - music, circus and fire performers
8.00pm   Special performance. Detail TBA
8.30pm   Burning of Relevé
9.30pm   Finish

Important information

Please note that this event is not suitable for anyone with limited mobility. The sculpture that will be burned is approximately 1km from the carpark, and is accessed across ground that is unsuitable for wheel chairs or mobility scooters. The sculpture's location is a result of health and safety requirements. We apologise for any disappointment.

About Relevé

Relevé is an art installation inspired by the Nine Ladies Stone Circle, a Bronze Age archaeological site located near Chatsworth House.

As folklore has it, nine ladies were caught dancing at that location and were turned into stone for dancing on the Sabbath. Relevé not only pays homage to the nine ladies, but also celebrates the rebellious spirit of dance, music and art - the perfect choice for our celebratory burn.

Nine twisted structures made of wood and intricately decorated with a rope and string laced facade, dance around one another. The artwork was one of three participatory builds staged at Chatsworth over the year and was built through a collaboration between artist Rebekah Waites and schoolchildren and youth volunteers from the local Derbyshire and Sheffield community.
