Enjoy an extra special visit to Chatsworth with our bespoke tours, tailored to your own interests and hosted by experts from our team.
Experience treasures from the collection up close and see areas of the house not on the public route, all under the guidance of specialist colleagues who are passionate about sharing Chatsworth’s extensive history and collection.
What could the tour cover?
Art history and architecture, the archives and library, textiles and tapestries, or gardens and horticulture are just some of the areas you can choose to focus on during your tour. With a collection spanning more than 4,000 years, and including paintings, ceramics, sculpture, furniture, books and decorative arts, there is so much to discover.
For inspiration, here is a selection of the many themes available for your tour...
- Explore Chatsworth’s literary links to Jane Austen, Elizabeth Gaskell, and other celebrated female authors, including members of the Devonshire family
- Hear stories about the women who have shaped Chatsworth’s history, such as Bess of Hardwick, Duchess Georgiana Cavendish (née Spencer), and Duchess Deborah Cavendish (née Mitford)
- Find out more about the visionary gardener, architect, and engineer, Sir Joseph Paxton, many of whose greatest achievements were conducted while he was Head Gardener at Chatsworth under the 6th Duke
- Or enjoy the beauty of the Chatsworth Estate from the 19th-century Belvedere Tower and theatre, once used by the 6th Duke for hosting guests (and royalty) during elaborate parties and balls
