About Your Visit
We want to ensure you make the most of your time with us, so please take a moment to read the important information on this page.
Please note: Last entry for the garden is now 1.5 hours before closing time.
Preparing for your visit
Before Setting Off
Please download and save your booking confirmation to your phone or print it out to show our car park team on arrival. The QR code must be clearly visible. All tickets will be scanned at the car park entrance.
We cannot retrieve bookings for you at the car park entrance, and you will not be admitted if you are unable to present a valid QR code for scanning.
If you have booked more than one car parking space, each car included in your order must have a copy of the booking confirmation to show on entry. The QR code on your booking confirmation will validate entry for the number of cars on your booking, after which it will become inactive.
Drop offs
Christmas is the busiest time of year at Chatsworth, and we must monitor car park capacity closely for the safety of our visitors and colleagues. We are therefore only able to allow licensed taxis (not mini-buses) or visitors with pre-booked tickets, valid for the date of arrival, access for drop-offs and pick-ups. All other vehicles will be refused entry.
During the Christmas period, visitors may be dropped off and collected outside the security lodge, next to the main house entrance. It is not permitted for vehicles to park or wait in this area. If you book a return trip by taxi, you must be ready to board as soon as it arrives.
Re-entry to the car park is not permitted over the Christmas period. We reserve the right to limit, refuse or delay entry to drop-offs/pick-ups to safely manage vehicle movement and capacity on site. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Manage Your Booking
You can amend a booking or resend a booking confirmation using our 'Manage Your Booking' service.

Parking at Christmas
Christmas is our busiest time of year, so please allow extra time for your arrival as parking may take longer than usual.
On arrival, our car park team will direct you to a space. Once the main car park is full, cars will be parked in overflow car parks in front of the house.
Please be respectful to our team; they are working hard in all weathers to park vehicles quickly and safely, following a system that manages traffic flow on site throughout the day.
If you have a Blue Badge, please hold it up clearly to our parking team on arrival so they can guide you to an accessible parking space. Learn more about accessibility at Chatsworth over Christmas.
There is no re-entry to the car park over the Christmas period.
Important Information
During periods of wet weather, the areas around the overflow car park may become slippery and muddy. We recommend you wear sturdy shoes suitable for walking on uneven ground and in muddy and wet conditions. You may also wish to have access to a torch.
We will not take responsibility for any damage to footwear or other personal possessions, including prams and pushchairs.
Please note that we do not have dedicated parent and child parking, and we cannot guarantee a parking space close to the house or the toilets/ baby changing facilities.
Opening and Entry Times
Our opening times vary over the Christmas and New Year period. You can view a full list of house, garden and farmyard opening and last entry times, as well as the opening times of our shops and restaurants here: View opening times. Note that if you visit later in the day, our shops and restaurants may be closed when you arrive/exit the garden.
As advertised, our market finished on 14 December.
If you have a Christmas at Chatsworth ticket, you are welcome to arrive at Chatsworth at any time after 9 am on the day of your visit to enjoy our woodland and parkland, or get ready for the day ahead. Our garden, farmyard and playground, and many of our shops and restaurants open at 10am.
You may visit the garden before your entry time for the house.
If you have chosen a house entry time of 4.30 pm or later, we recommend you visit the garden light trail before you enter the house so you have enough time to enjoy the full experience.
Unless you are entering from the house, last entry to the garden is 90 minutes before closing. Our light trail takes at least 45-60 minutes to experience and is best viewed from dusk.
If you have a Christmas in the Garden ticket, your garden entry time is printed on your ticket. You are welcome to arrive at Chatsworth any time after 9 am on the day of your visit. Our farmyard and playground, and many of our shops and restaurants open at 10am.
Please note that the projection may finish up to 15 minutes earlier than the garden closing time, so please allow plenty of time to complete the trail. The toilets, Orangery shop and Flora’s Temple Tearoom will close when the garden closes.
