Nature themed family activities

Here are some engaging nature-themed activities for all members of the family to enjoy at home, on days out or the next time you visit Chatsworth.

Birds

Looking at birds can be relaxing and fascinating. You don’t need to be a fully-fledged birdwatcher to enjoy watching birds. There are many identification guides online, and the RSPB website has some useful free resources.

Here are a few fun and short activities to get you started.

Bees

How do bees help us?
Bees provide every third mouthful of food we eat. Without bees, we can’t grow some of our favourite foods. Many wildflowers and plants might disappear too.

Bees carry pollen from flower to flower. Pollination is an important part of the life cycle of plants, flowers and the food we eat. You can learn more in our pollination activity linked to below.

How can we help bees?
Did you know that Chatsworth keep bees in the kitchen garden? Our gardeners Stefan and Simon take care of the bees and the beehives. Growing bee-friendly plants and flowers are one way we can help our fuzzy friends.
