Mary-Ann reflects on her creative journey from Textile student in Nottingham, 17 years growing a career at British fashion brand Paul Smith to landing the dream job as Design Director at Liberty Fabrics. Highlighting challenges faced along the way, mentors who have inspired her, the textiles she has created and what it was like to see her first Liberty collection, Mary-Ann will also share the process behind the iconic prints - from concept to Italian mills and on to the catwalk, including an exploration into the stories and drawings behind the Autumn Winter 2019 Collection.

Design Director at Liberty Fabrics since 2016, Mary-Ann's career in Textile design is rooted in Nottingham, having studied and lectured there and worked for the renowned Paul Smith for 17 years including a collection inspired by a team day out to Chatsworth. Passionate about pattern, print and colour she curates two seasonal collections a year for Liberty in addition to leading on collaborations and commissions. Mary-Ann is often found immersing herself in Liberty’s extraordinary archive of 45,000 original designs dating back to 17th century.
