Weather permitting, we hope to welcome up to 70 pilots and their hot air balloons to the country fair. They'll fly above the house, and across the estate, and surrounding villages.
The balloons commence their inflation from 6am and usually aim to be in the skies by 7am. However, wind conditions on the day determine the exact timing and location of their take-off, flight path, and landing.
Look to the skies above Chatsworth to see a multitude of different balloon designs - from aliens, fire hydrants and screwdrivers to traditional globe shapes.
They also ascend (weather permitting) on Friday and Saturday evenings, following the closing ceremony (approx 6.30pm).
Where can I watch the balloons?
If you would like to watch the balloons take off, you are advised to park in the west car park. This is accessed via the entrance off the B6012 at Edensor. You do not need a country fair ticket to park to view the balloons.
Please do not park on the grass verges and side roads around the estate, as you will be asked to move on.
Important: the Fair gates open at 9am; there is no access to the showground or Chatsworth (including shops and toilet facilities) before this time. Access to Chatsworth is only possible with a country fair ticket valid for the day you visit.
Please note: Please be aware that for technical, operational or safety reasons, some facilities may be removed or closed, or entertainment and event timetables cancelled and/or altered at any time, including at short notice. Chatsworth reserves the right to change the programme of attractions and entertainment if, at any time, it is deemed necessary or appropriate to do so, this may also include closing attractions or areas of the estate. We apologise in advance for any disappointment caused should this need arise.
