Event details
Thursday 14 December | 10am – 3.30pm
£100 per person
Includes lunch and entry to the garden light trail from dusk
Using scalpels, scissors, glue, paper and pencils you will design your papercut scene section by section to create a tunnel book or ‘peep show’ perfect to put on your hearth or table this Christmas.
Tunnel books date all the way back to the mid-18th century, when they were originally called peep shows. Tunnel books are a series of cut-paper panels placed one behind the other, creating the illusion of depth and perspective.
Bring along your own ideas and images to create a one off artwork. All materials are provided and you will be taught how to construct a tunnel book structure and how to create imagery throughout the pages using paper cutting techniques.
The day also includes a delicious, locally sourced graze box lunch provided by the Chatsworth Estate Farm Shop, tea and coffee, and entry to the Chatsworth Garden, including the interactive sound and light trail (best viewed after dusk).
Meet at 9.50am at the top garden gates (near the Stables) ready for a 10am start. Participants must be 18+.
The Old Potting Shed is a step free, accessible venue. Please email education@chatsworth.org if you have any access requirements and we will speak to you about your needs. A member of our team will be in touch to discuss any dietary requirements before the event takes place.
