Discover the art of collagraph printing and explore creative ways to capture the movement, textures and patterns of water in your prints. Receive expert guidance on making and printing from your own collagraph plates using an intaglio printing press. This session would be ideal for those who enjoy collaging or printmaking.

About the session

Day one

We will explore examples of collagraph plates and prints to understand how different textures and materials can be used to convey the qualities of water. There will be plenty of material provided to inspire your designs, but we encourage you to bring along images of your favourite landscape or seascape to inspire you.

We will experiment with composition; textures; shapes and patterns and you will be introduced to various techniques and collage materials to produce exciting textured collagraph printing plates.

Day two

Next, you will have the opportunity to ink and print your collagraph plate. You will gain an understanding of and explore using both intaglio and relief printing processes, giving you a series of water-inspired collagraph prints to take home.

This will be a relaxed creative session. No previous experience of collagraph printing is required, all abilities are very welcome as our tutor will carefully guide you through each stage of the process.

Meeting point and refreshments

Meet at 9.50am at the top garden gates (near the Stables) ready for a 10am start.

Each day includes complimentary access to the garden and refreshments. We will break for lunch, so please bring a packed lunch. The Carriage House Café will be open for hot meals, soup, and sandwiches.

Accessibility

The Old Potting Shed is a step free, accessible venue. Please email [email protected] if you have any questions about your individual needs and we will be happy to help.
