Experience an elegant afternoon tea with a literary-themed arrival drink, served in the Old Duke's Glasshouse in the Chatsworth Garden.
Important Information
Please note that you will need to purchase either a Queen's Reading Room Festival Pass or a garden entry ticket in addition to an afternoon tea ticket.
If you are attending the festival, we recommend checking the talk timetable before booking your afternoon tea.
Sample Menu
Welcome drink: a glass of chilled 'Pemberley Fizz'
Freshly made sandwiches on locally sourced breads:
- Egg mayonnaise and truffle on treacle bread
- Chicken and lemon mayonnaise on garlic and olive bread
- Smoked salmon and dill crème fraiche on garlic and olive bread
- Cheese savoury on wholemeal bread
A selection of cakes and sweet treats baked to perfection by our own pastry chef:
- Duo of freshly baked plain and fruit scones served with strawberry jam and clotted cream
- Bakewell tart
- Vanilla sponge with a lemon and elderflower curd
- Pressed chocolate cake with a mango gel
- French macaron
Accompanied by a selection of delicate teas or locally roasted coffee.
You can provide information on any specific dietary requirements when purchasing your tickets.
Menu may be subject to change depending on the availability of the freshest, high-quality seasonal ingredients.
Accessibility
The Old Duke's Glasshouse is located off the Rose Garden and accessed via a short flight of steps. There is a short upward slope leading from the garden entrance to the Rose Garden.
Important: The nearest accessible toilets are located outside of the garden, between the Park Shop and house entrance.

Toilets
Please note that there are no toilet facilities at the Glasshouse. The nearest facilities are located by Flora's Temple Teas (female), and by Flora's Temple (male).
