From 1939 to 1946, Chatsworth housed pupils from a girl's boarding school, Penrhos College, as the school buildings had been commandeered by the Government as part of the war effort on the home front. View archival footage of their stay at Chatsworth below.

This footage was created for our 2014 exhibition Chatsworth in Wartime, which explored life at Chatsworth during the First and Second World Wars.
