Complimentary tickets

We offer complimentary tickets to accompanying teachers in line with the national teacher–pupil ratio guidelines:

  • Foundation stage, key stages 1 and 2 – ratio 1:6
  • Key stages 3 and 4 – ratio 1:10
  • Key stage 5 and above – ratio 1:10
  • Higher education – ratio 1:10

All additional teachers or lecturers are charged at the standard student rate.

Pupil ratios are devised by the UK Department for Education. To validate your risk assessments and to comply with Chatsworth's safeguarding policy, group visits should adhere to the ratios set for each key stage.

Special educational needs and disabilities

We are committed to making its education visits as inclusive and accessible as possible. If your group has any special educational needs, dietary or medical requirements, physical, sensory, social, emotional or mental health needs, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss with you how best to adapt sessions to meet the needs of your group.

The house is often quieter in the afternoon. Alternatively, house tours can be booked from 10am, allowing you to see Chatsworth before it opens to the public. There is full access to the entire visitor route in the house for visitors with a physical disability and good access to the garden and farmyard. More information about access for visitors with physical disabilities or sensory impairments can be found on the accessibility pages of our website.

For more information about our learning sessions and to discuss curriculum links, email us at or call us on 01246 565430 between 9am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday.
