Event details

Saturday 30 September | 10am to 4pm

£100 per person, includes lunch, parking and garden access

Learn about the intaglio printing process in this full-day eco-conscious etching workshop.

You'll receive expert guidance on how to design, etch and create an etching print using recycled tetra packs. The workshop will include gathering primary source material from the Chatsworth Garden and will also draw upon the collection of old master drawings currently on display as part of Mirror Mirror: Reflections on Design at Chatsworth

Let Giulio Romano’s drawings of functional objects inspired by the natural world inform your print, be influenced by William Kent’s drawings which combine architecture and nature, or transform one of your own drawing studies into a small series of etched prints.

This will be a relaxed creative session and no previous experience of intaglio etching is required, all abilities are very welcome and our tutor will carefully guide you through each stage of the process.

Suitable for ages 18 and upwards.

The workshop includes tea, coffee and a locally sourced graze box lunch from the Chatsworth Estate Farm Shop. You are able to access the Chatsworth Garden during and after the workshop – please note the garden closes at 5.30pm.

This event will take place in the Old Potting Shed in the garden. Please arrive at the top garden gates (close to The Stables) by 9.50am where a member of the team will meet you. As we will be outside for part of the day, please wear appropriate clothing for the weather.

Accessibility

Some areas of the garden include steps and steep slopes. If you would like to join this event and have questions about accessibility, please contact Chatsworth Education at [email protected] so we can discuss your specific requirements.
