Event details

Friday 1 March | 11am to 12.30pm

£12.50 per person, includes refreshments

Join Chatsworth's Head of Learning and Engagement, Gill Hart, for an illustrated talk on Picturing Childhood, Chatsworth House Trust's 2024 exhibition (16 March - 6 October).

Picturing Childhood: A new perspective at Chatsworth celebrates childhood and how different experiences have been portrayed in art through the major historical periods, from the Tudors to the present day.

Gill will reveal the themes explored in the exhibition, including gender and identity, empire and childhood and being a child in the past, and will preview key objects that will be on display. She'll also share details on the interactive elements incorporated into the experience, and the multiple partners that have been involved in the design, planning and delivery.

This is also a great opportunity to learn more about how we conceive our annual exhibitions and make decisions on the pieces we include.

Your ticket includes refreshments and there will be an opportunity for a Q&A after the talk.

This year, our winter talks will take place in our garden studio, The Old Potting Shed. Please arrive at 10.45am at the top garden gates where a member of staff will direct you to the venue.

The Old Potting Shed is step-free and has accessible facilities. If you have any questions about accessibility please contact [email protected].
