Volunteers play a crucial role in helping the Chatsworth House Trust charity care for Chatsworth for everyone.

In 2025, more than 250 volunteers donated over 42,000 hours, joining teams including Visitor Experience, Garden & Landscape, Learning & Engagement, the Farmyard, Collections, and Archives & Library.

Volunteers also support major events and projects, such as Celebrating the Cascade, the Family Festival, the Garden & Plant Fair, and The Queen’s Reading Room Festival.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering with Chatsworth House Trust offers the opportunity to develop new skills and knowledge, and help build confidence, while making a meaningful contribution to the care and preservation of Chatsworth.

The benefits of volunteering include:

Social connection: meet like-minded people from diverse backgrounds.

Health and well-being: keep your brain and body active, and help improve your mental health by being part of a community with a shared sense of purpose.

Skill development: gain hands-on experience in a particular field, while developing 'soft-skills' such as teamwork and communication.

Career growth: gather vital work experience and the opportunity to build a professional network.

Opportunities to suit all

To meet the needs and interests of a wide range of people, Chatsworth House Trust offers several volunteering options: long-term regular commitments, occasional hours, and short/medium-term placements.

There are also opportunities for remote volunteering suited to those who may face barriers in travelling to Chatsworth.
