We believe that Chatsworth has a positive impact on its local economy. To maximise this local economic benefit, we aim to buy at least 50% of our supplies and services locally. We define ‘local’ as any business which is less than 30 miles away by road.
In 2019, having published the long term targets, we began establishing our baselines: the starting points from which to measure progress. Our supply chain assessment looked at every single supplier of goods and services used by the Devonshire Group during the 2018/19 financial year. By looking at the amount spent with them and their distance from our sites, we calculated the proportion of money spent within the local economy. The exercise showed that 49% of spend was with businesses located less than 30 miles from our sites.
Our focus now is on ensuring this figure exceeds 50% and we will repeat our analysis in 2020.
